What in your opinions is the most forgiving 3 wood out on the market today for a 9 handicap player.

I demoed some Tour Edge Exotics Trilogy fairway woods recently.  The bottom shape of the club is very reminiscent of the ginty from back in the days.  Has a sharp v shape sole that made it ridiculously easy to hit off the ground.

I would focus on specific characteristics first. In my opinion, the most forgiving fw is one that can easily elevate the ball. To me, that means something slightly shallow-faced which is a bit longer heel to toe. As a 9 handi, you are a pretty good striker, so I would stay away from designs with closed angles. Don't short-change yourself by getting something with a stock shaft. I think half the reason why people say they can't hit fw's is because they have awful shafts. I also suggest thinking about a 4 metal as an alternative (I know you want a 3 wood...just saying). A couple extra degrees of loft can make a big difference in forgiveness. Short of that, look for something with 15 degrees of loft. Check length as well, as over-length designs can be unmanageable.

Nothing brand new that i can think of other than the G15...  A few oldies but goodies are the 2007 burner... and the Hibore XL / XLS,  Both of those options are about the best ever for playability and forgiveness.   Should be pretty easy to find and inexpensive.

The couple times I hit my buddies 07burner I thought it was very forgiving (one of those "stupid easy" clubs)

Try a 4 wood at 3 wood length, the little bit of extra loft will make it more forgiving than it's 3 wood counterpart and you wont lose much if any distance.

Another for G15. I tried the i15 and the g15. Both are pretty forgiving but the amount of side spin the g series eliminates is impressive. I now have the i15 three wood and a g15 5 wood and the amount of effort it takes to intentionally move the g15 compared to the i15 is night and day. With the same shaft they are equally as easy to elevate.

the superfast fairway 3 wood is stupid easy to hit. a little draw biased, but a cannon off the tee and the deck. i'd be gaming one if i they had a strong 3 version

I'm also considering a new 3W, as my F10 just launches too high for me, and I lose distance and it's not worth putting a new shaft in.  I demoed the XCG3 and it was really hot off the face.  20 yards longer off the ground according to the launch monitor to my F10.  I have a Ping G15 driver but haven't tried the 3W.  How do those two compare in terms of forgiveness, hot off the face, and ease of getting the ball off the ground.

+1 - I have one that I picked up new for about $75 new - it was a stock shaft - regular flex - but on a deflection board it tested closer to stiff - felt good and very forgiving - I had a Diamana Redboard sitting around that I had pulled - in the 60 gram family - it is a stiff - installed it in the Machspeed - untipped - and playing at 43 inches - plays as a soft stiff - the thing is money for me when I HAVE to hit a fairway - I have never been great off the deck with any 3 wood - so I carry a Burner Superlaunch hybrid #3 that I can carry about 215 yards with 8 yards roll out - if I am further out than that I am looking to lay up to a comfortable wedge distance....oh yeah, I play to a 12

In the Ping lineup, K15.  More forgiving than either G15 or V2.

And what's more forgiving than the most forgiving club Ping makes?

I think the TM R9 3W is silly easy to hit and hence very forgiving. The more you allow the swing weight of the club to take over the farther and straighter the thing goes. As such a nice smooth swing sends the ball into orbit. You could probably get one for a deal these days as well.

To be honest, the most forgiving 3 wood I ever hit was by Krank Golf, the Red Hot Chili Pepper. Next up would be G15, although it was a little "left" for me.
