Hey just to let you guys know that these are on Amazon for $27.77 a dozen and it's buy two get one free.  Just add three to your cart.  Too bad we get taxed in CA now, but still made out with three boxes for $60 with tax and shipped.

Does anyone know when or if the 2013 version of these will be coming out?

I have a press release that says the new Z-Star and Z-Star XVs will be on the market on Feb 8.  Both balls have some changes relating to the cover, the coating on the cover, the core, dimples, and ratio of coverage of dimples to surface area.

Here is a link to the press release.

Really?  The Golf Galaxy store nearby said they would have them in February.  Not that it matters to me since I have quite a few balls from last year that i will use all Spring.

Summer at earliest, but more likely November. Trying to avoid the ProV1 re-release. Need to get on a different release cycle.  That decision was made in July/August, so maybe the GG guy was going off old info. The release WAS to happen in Feb, but why get your teeth kicked in by Godzilla's new release?

[/quote]  Okay, thanks.  I am eager for the new Z-Star (not XV) since I noticed that all the staff champions Tour guys use the regular Z-Star along with Keegan Bradley, Charlie Beljan and a few other PGA Tour players.  My guess is they have a very live ball in the softer version which should give more control with maximum distance.  Since I am 64, I take a hint from the Champions Tour.

A core that is more responsive and compressible will enable the cover to be a tad thicker for better greenside spin (the XV cover will be thicker than the current version per the data sheet).  My only complaint with the XV is that it is slightly behind the Pro V1 and V1x in short game spin.  The cover of the current ball is .012" and it is going to .020" according to the data sheet.  The cover coating and the added thickness should make it better around the greens.  It is already a great distance ball.  I am very interested in a side by side test with both new balls against each other and their older versions around the greens and off the tee.

I dont see where they can improve with the new xv. The current xv is the best ball Ive ever used. Long, soft, spins a ton and cuts through the wind. IMO changing this ball runs the risk of making an inferior ball, like titleist did with the v1x over the years. New isnt always better. I will be buying up the old ones and sticking with them.

I wish! I am down to 3 dozen but I use white ones. We have crows where I play and they love the yellow balls. Shame cause the yellow seem more durable, but never found out for sure cause of dam crows.

Ha! we only have seagulls and geese so i'm ok. I find my eyes can follow yellow much better and i like the look when i'm putting. Plus, i'm the only person i've seen use them which i also think is cool ;)

Haha! I also have over a gross!

I really stocked up with the Black Friday deals. I can't imagine anyone coming out with a better ball for the price ($19/dozen).

In the picture is 1.25 (one and a quarter) gross of balls. A dozen dozen (one gross) and four more dozen (1/4 gross).

I agree. For $22 or less, the SV of any year, any color, is simply marvelous. For what you paid, it was a fantastic bargain.
1/4 of a dozen is 3. What school did you go to?

LOL! Yup. So 1.33 gross of SV balls!

That is a LOT of SV balls. Although I play it, I have learned that every time I warehouse balls, something knocks that one out before I am even 1/2 through the mega stock.

In 2013, I am trying to keep all of my ball purchases from fellow forum members and Lost (via Amazon only, Lost is selling their 4A SVs used bucket of 50 for $50 delivered USPS Priority; 4A being very good, but never quite mint; fine for this time of year).

Im notorious for swapping balls and never get through a bulk purchase without changing. Im happy with the XVs tho and plan to stick with them til I run out.

Thanks for the review. I bought three dozen on Amazon a few weeks ago for $60 and have yet to try them out. I've heard only good things about them though.
