That's so awesome , Does Westlake usually breed a lot of D1 athletes year after year?
Westlake High School has TWO starting quarterbacks in the NFL this week - Drew Brees & Nic Foles :)   Yes Westlake has its share of pro athletes too  : MLB - Houston Street all I can come up with right now.  Too many D1 to start naming all of those, but Westlake it is a very successful in a wide variety of sports.

Our waiter knew what's up at dinner this evening with this surprise...... Stratton & his sister Taylor

What's Stratton's non-weighted GPA?

He carrys a 4.0 right now.  This year it is higher due to his AP courses. He has a 103 combined average in his classes so far this first semester.  (He is in AP Physics, and Calculus)  His SAT last summer was a 1720.  His grades really helped in adding to his athletic scholarship. They waived all out of state tuition and he will receive two additional academic allowances.  He was a HORRIBLE student in junior high.  He had a wake-up call his 8th grade year and it changed his life as a student.  In the last four years, I have not had to worry one bit about him taking care of business in the classroom.  He absolutely realizes that to play golf, he has to make the grades and he has done this entirely on his own.  He tutors his other athletic classmates in physics and calculus just being a friend. It doesn't come without some sacrifice.  He doesn't go out too much.  He will go to the football games on Friday nights, but other than that, he is practicing or studying.

Boom.

With the impending ban on the anchoring of putters in 2016 will Stratton switch immediately or continue to use it until the deadline?

WORK. I have been absolutely slammed at work. Gonna be a 60hr week this 5 day week as well.
Stratt & I found a day to slip down to our hunting lease for a hunt the day before Thanksgiving though. Our office has so many firewalls, WRX is on my iPhone only during work hours now.

Stratton texted me within minutes of the announcement and said this:
"With the ban on the belly putter, I think the sooner I switch back the better.  I am going to switch after my final round in the tournament this week"
He has a two day 36 hole high school tournament this Friday/Saturday.
Don't know if he will game a Nome standard or one of his Anser putters. If I know him, he will take a bag of putters out Sunday and putt all day and make a descision after trying everything out. Make no mistake though, following Saturday, the belly will be benched forever with him if the rule stands as it seems it will.

Your office needs to get their priorities straight with the firewall settings. You have a small cult-like following on here and 10 days is just too long to go without any updates!!!  LOL.  Seriously though, do you care to elaborate on you and your son's views on the anchor ban?

While it's good to be prepared, it's really only a proposal at this point as you know.

I was at an AJGA event in CA about 2mo ago and looked around at over 100 male and female junior players.  Not a SINGLE belly putter or long putter in the field.  Not one.  I was actually shocked because I thought that at least 3-4% of the juniors would have them.  And the way Keegan and Tom Lehman make it sound, it's rampant in Junior golf.

Lehman actually was quoted as saying "There are ranks of juniors who have been raised on the long putters and no experience with traditional length putters.  (a bit of hyperbole in my opinion.)

Yes he realizes this, but he thinks that it is inevitable.  Besides, he has won with a conventional putter 20 times the tournaments that he has with the belly.  I am hacked though, because I just installed an orange and white Iomic belly putter grip on his putter!

As far as both of us, we feel the same way about anchoring
We thought once the cat was out of the bag, they shouldn't change it. Does it give a "competitive advantage" absolutely not. If it did, EVERYONE would use one. It is NOT that easy. Can it help some players? Absolutely, but cavity back irons can too. If it were a clear advantage, I would be in favor of a proposal like this. This seems more a reactionary descision because there was an abnormality in the amount of players in the winners circle the last two years with longer putters. This was nothing more than a bunch of grey hairs screaming at those long putter player to "GET OFF THIER LAWN!"

Thanks for the response Deerslayer. If I was in his position I'd do the same thing. I can see older guys who are at the tail end of their careers using it till the last day possible, but those who are young and just starting their career should switch sooner rather than later.

LOL......it looks like copper, because it IS copper.  That is my copper plating tank :)

This putter is ill. Patina finish is done on the head, (looks like an old penny with the edges rubbed to look new) had to stop to watch the game.  We are back at it now.  Put the head back on and paint fill and photograph.  Our best work IMHO

Here is the head with JUST the patina. (it is not finished) We will add a wax to the head to get rid of the powdery look of the oxidation on the patina finish.
The Top Line insert is bright copper that will be clear coated matte so it will stay a bright copper color.

We cut down the carbon fiber shaft to fit on a Super Stroke 1.0. The grip fits flush with the lock ring. (The putter is no longer a belly, only an adjustable length standard putter)
We blackened the Stainless Steel Lock ring so it looks like part of the Super Stroke grip.
More pics will follow

Interested to hear an update on his progression with the Anser Forged irons.  Does he still like them better than the S56's?  I feel like he's been playing those awhile now...

I think I'm starting to come down with something, maybe a virus or something that is being spread by this part of the Interweb. Symptoms, uncontrollable drooling and eyeballs that feel they are popping from the eye sockets, not to mention the typical sore throat and mild fever common to most viral infections.

A few horrible indoor pics of Stratton's Penny Nome Conversion.  I will get some good outdoor pics tomorrow.  He is practicing away in his room with it now.  The putter turned out just as we planned when we talked about it yesterday. The putter is now set at 33.5"
