I still dont' get how that big polygon thing on the bottom changes the face angle. Does the shaft screw down into that? We'll see. I'm a little skeptical still. I still don't see distance being all that great, all that tech just takes away from the weighting they need for raw distance. Guess I'll be looking more at the Burner 2.0 TP than the R11.

No I'm still a bit confused.  The main thing I wanted to know is if the loft of the club can be changed 1° +/- without changing the face angle.  If the face angle has to change to add loft then that is no different than the R9, correct?

To use as an example:

I have an R9 SuperTri with 10.5° of loft.  If I change the face angle to closed °1 then am I adding 1° of loft on it as well?

IMO This is all marketing tosh....I'M confused a little also, A scenario to laugh at, Take a 10.5° r11 that sets up square and actually measures 10.5°, opening the face 2° ADDS loft the same as any othr club in the bag, only diff being to make SQUARE back at impact you have to De-loft the face dynamically 2°,efectivly reducing the loft of the club, but its still got a measured 10.5°.... and the point of opening the face was..... Then on the other hand, if you cant dynamically reduce the loft and carve everything Right the player can adjust the sole plate so the driver sits BACK to SQUARE,so again why did we adjust the face in the first place...... :D

Then on the other hand, what happens if you hovver the driver at address, grip it square to the face angle(makes no diff if either open or closed via fct),Return club back to Square at impact the loft on the face is still the measured 10.5° you had to start with :good:

Sounds like a recipe for disaster, adjust open carve high right, close and hook low left, adjust the sole and do the opposite, then adjust the MWT to counteract either..... and we still cant keep it on the golf course coz the shaft's too long to control, then Put on BST and play old driver.

Oh, and its WHITE :fool: cant see it in the snow....

The way I understand it is that the "big polygon thing" just changes the way the club sits on the ground when looking at it.  Therefore, it does nothing if you hover the driver.  The shaft sleeve still adjusts the actual face angle/effective loft like in the r9 models.  However, you can now offset that visually or make it look even greater to the eye with the "big polygon thing" on the sole.  If you set the shaft one degree open and set the new sole weight to Open, then the driver will look even more open when soled at address.  If you set the shaft to one degree closed and set the sole weight to Open, the club should look square when soled at address instead of looking closed like it actually is . . .

For those in the know, does that sound about right?

Correct.  There are 19 additional options with the stock shaft in the TP being the Blur 65 to make 20 total.

Dear R11,

come see me in about a year...minus about $300.

I bet any one of us will be able to get a TP for $400 at launch just like i did for the R9TP.  always a coupon flying around or some shop looking to sell a club.

I'm all in for a 9deg TP with a Fubu Alpha for 4hundo.

You would Lee. In my opinion I think it looks really busy and "gimicky", but isn't that true with about all of Gaylormade's stuff for this year? After last year I thought Taylormade may start walking back towards making decent looking equipment like they use too, then they come out with this junk.

TM Bashing is getting old lol :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: Taylormade had the best looking drivers last year IMO and the R11 looks even better.

Just spent an hour on the range with the r11 and a hand full of shafts that I had... wow... I have to say I like it. I wasnt sold on the white until I saw it... and there were several members and our HP on the range - all of which said not likely they would play it, until they saw it and hit it... they all said, yeap I'd play it!  It was the 9* and I left it neutral all around... just swapped shafts... had a S-flex Blur (non tp) not a fan of that shaft but then again doesnt fit my swing speed.  Put in a Proj X I had that was tipped about an 1"... wow... great combo... and the r11 feels alot more like the old 425 tp... crisper... more solid than r9's... also tried a couple other shafts (f7m2, voodoo's, rip, grafalloy)... considering it was the first time I swung since Nov' it was good... and the technology in this club is incredible! Well done TM!!!  I dont have numbers and its tough to see where the ball lands considering our range is covered in a foot of snow... but compared to where I was hitting my supertri... my best guess was the r11 was carrying it past the r9 by 5-10 yards... and I can say it was more spin related.. ball flies out there! Cant wait for my trip to Phoenix in Feb to try it out on grass!

Maybe I'll just have it refinished in black.....this white is not doing it for me.  The more I look at TMAG to more I look towards Titleist.  Everything is gimmicky.  Give me neutral accross the board and I am good.

I couldn't agree more. Some white paint is not going to make me chose one driver over another and Titleist has the adjustability feature nailed. The TM adjustable face angle sales pitch is shaky at best.  I find the white paint and all of the dashes and stripes distracting and totally unecessary. Gimme the 910.

sorry but you dont know what your talking about with the TM adjustments, the ASP works amazing, i have been messing with my R11 all day, being able to add loft and adjust the ASP to have it look square or open instead of being closed like all the other adjustable drivers puts the R11 on top. Also being able to have a open face or closed face without changing loft is even better. I know everybody doesnt like the white and thats fine but saying the adjustability is gimmicky or shaky at best is crazy talk lol, not starting a 910 vs R11 war im just saying the new features WORK and its not a gimmick

lol... someone should do the research and see who invented the Titleist adpater... a former TM guy from what I heard... who presented the idea to TM peeps when they were looking at FCT and .... TM said no because the center of gravity would be too high and it would limit what could be done with the club... so if thats the truth then why play technology that was not good enough for one company but used by another?

Forget the white paint and the adjustability, this driver FEELS and SOUNDS EXCELLENT and we all know that goes a LONG way.  I was a devout G15 player but the R11 has taken the Alpha spot in my bag.  The white is pleasant to look at but based on the feel and sound I would play it if it was bright orange or God forbid...even black.

Just picked mine up today.  The fitter set me at Open, 8 degrees loft, and 65 X shaft.  Spin rate and launch angle are dialed in.  I picked up 15 yds. distance from former driver, Ping I15 9 degree.  When I arrived home, I hit three shag balls out into the fallow field next to our house.  The flight was lower than former driver and the ball flew a ton, but I didn't have a distance marker out there.  It's 45 degrees out tomorrow, but if it's sunny, I'm walking 9.  Peace.

Couldn't agree more. I hit it at the PGA Show with the Blur 65 TP and it felt great. I thought the sound and feel were way better than the r9 and the white actually sets up really well especially with the black face. Didn't really mess with the settings because the monitor had me carrying it 280 totaling out at about 320. It is LEGIT.

Well I just got off the phone with TM.  They confirmed that the R9 shafts can be used in the R11.  But those that have seen the adapter know that the writing is different from the R9 to the R11.  From TM's customer service, here's how they correspond:

R9 N = R11 N
R9 L = R11 Higher Loft 1*
R9 R = R11 Lower Loft 1*
R9 NU = R11 NU

Now, how this corresponds with the N-O-C plate on the sole....I don't know.  I don't have an R11 to tinker with yet.
