no rules.......you might pick one overall name.....or maybe you want to pick one from different categories

some thoughts as to categories:

1. PGA

2. European PGA

3. LPGA

4. Champions Tour

5. golf broadcasters

6. caddies

again, no rules......answer however you choose......just wondering who the most likable is/are?

i think it's a fluid thing......but my vote at the moment would be Graeme McDowell.

Rocco Mediate.  I don't know how you couldn't like him.  I still wish he would've pulled out the 2008 U.S. Open.

Met Mark O'Meara @ Isleworth before the Florida swing began in 2007. What a personable guy extremely friendly, he talked to you like you've been friends for years. I've run into him 4 other times at other tour stops and he has called me by name everytime. So he has my vote!

Bubba Watson

Too many to name. All of them are great by the time they are there. I've met probably 60% of the regulars.
5. golf broadcasters
Charles Barkley
6. caddies
Don't know enough.

It's hard to choose, especially for the PGA category.  Probably 20 others who could easily be in there.

Paul Goydos is a super nice and funny guy.

Whoever said Steve Stricker is down to earth is absolutely correct.  This summer he caddied for his wife in the Madison womens city tournament.  I thought that was super cool.  It was weird to see him carrying a golf bag and holding the flagstick for other golfers.

I absolutely agree, and for once can base this on personal experience from meeting the man. What you see is what you get with Stric.

Gmac at the Tavistock Cup this year was cool as hell. He'd just start talking to you while walking down the fairway. It completely threw me off guard.

Ernie Els was pretty cool too. Round done? His buddy came up, handed him a beer and they just started drinking at the back of his car.

I have never met any pro's or former pro's, but I would imagine, like someone mentioned earlier in the thread, that Payne Stewart would have been a great person to meet.

Interesting choice.  I remember the media at one time trying to depict him as not so nice, and several tour players quickly came to his defense.

Never met a Pro myself but my friends and people I have played with say that Jimenez is a great, down to earth guy-he looks it and I always back him. The Big Easy is also from what people tell me a really nice, laid back, friendly guy but the one who someone I play with really waxed lyrical about was Lee Trevino, apparently he could have been a comedian if he failed at golf.

A couple of years ago at the Open I was getting autographs and Scott Strage posed for photographs with me which was nice. Also I met lee Westwood at his academy and he is a nice person.

I followed Spencer levine around a few times when he was on the Canadian tour. We could get real close and talk to them between shots. I thought he was awesome, really nice and would just chat with us the whole time. I know he has gotten some bad press lately, but I've always followed him since and I am a fan. He was really cool when I met him.

Lucky enough to meet Jack Nicklaus at the Bear's Club back in 2002. He had just come out of a board meeting and stopped by at a few tables, including the one where my brother and I sat. Asked us if we enjoyed the course, how the two assistants were who rounded out our foursome, etc. Couldn't been more than five minutes- he was with the Mrs. and a few others (not to mention we're not members). Certainly didn't need to make the effort, but did anyway...

Class act through and through. Have always thought so...

FWIW - when I marshalled at the US Open this year, the nicest person I met was the USGA official who was setting the pin placements on #4 on Thursday and Friday. Spent several minutes with me explaining why pins were placed where they were, green conditions, etc. I've had not so pleasant experiences with PGA officials who treated the vols like their own personal servants. This guy really seemed to appreciate what we were doing to contribute to a successful tournament. Wish I could remember his name.

I met Tom Lehman on the rental car bus in the Dallas airport a few years ago.  I was there for Q School pre- qualifying and he helped me get my travel bag on the bus and we had a nice chat on the bus ride.  When we got off the bus, he went out of his way to come over and wish me luck.  I was very impressed by that and thought he was just a super nice and down to earth guy
