The TM 300 irons seem to have a bit of a following here
Do any of you know how these hit compared to the following sets in terms of forgiveness and playability?

Hogan apex FTX
TM 320 irons
Maxfli revolutions
Nike pro combos

I'm also curious about any comparisson between the original Nike pro combos and the TM 300's. Looking at one of these two for a backup set.

I have a TM 300 5 iron and it is seriously one of the sweetest irons I have ever hit!
I'm just worried that it may be too much club for me

I can't compare to all of the irons, but they are tougher to hit than the 320s, and similar to the Revolutions.

I think the TM300 forged iron is the best forged cavity back I've ever hit. Smooth as butter and pretty as heck. I'd jump all over a set if you have the opportunity.

I have a set of Lehman 300s.  They are reasonably forgiving IMHO, just a little less than the FTXs.

A friend uses a full set of TM 300's with X100. Swears by them. My impression is that they are a solid choice in the player's CB Forged Iron niche.

I used to own a set of 300's but soon got rid of them because I didn't like the feel, and the sole grind and bounce angle brought me very poor results. Since then I have played Mizuno and Srixon with much better results.

I own(ed) both of them.  If you are referring to the original pro combos I can attest to them.  I played 2rds and had 2 range sessions with them before I sold them.

NIKE
Liked: The mid irons and blades felt really good but did not feel seemless.  The mid irons feel like the 2008/09 Split Cavity's.  The long irons were the weakest part of the set.

I just never fell for them,  I bought them for such a cheap price new back when they were going for $800 new (I Paid $450 on Ebay) and I sold them for a minimal loss.

TM300's
Liked:  Everything!!!!  I bought these in Oct 2002,  they were a demo set that looked all scratched up on the soles,  they wanted $450 for them.  I licked my thumb and wiped the dirtiest one,  realized they were in 9+/10 shape.  Mgr agreed to sell them to me for $400.

Visually they look perfect at address and I have gotten more compliments on how good they look.  They are still in awesome shape.  I looked at the TM320's 1st thinking they would be better suited for my game but I was able to demo the 300's and found I hit the 300's lower with no difference in forgiveness.

I have demo'd dozens of various forged/cast irons over the last 10 years.  I have liked a lot of them but never liked them better to justify spending the money.

Dislike:
I do not want to call it a dislike but as I have gotten older I realized there are some subtle nuances to an iron I need to take note of ie: sole grind.  I am a sweeper/picker of the ball but my miss is chunking it.  I am starting to think that these might have too sharp of a leading edge.
If I played more I would be more serious about getting a set with more bounce.

My recommendation is to look for a demo 6 iron for the 300's, they are all over Ebay for very short $$.  Grab one and try it out, save some $$ on chancing it on a whole set.

Mike

Thanks for the awesome reply. I think I am gonna steer away from the pro combos based on what you've told me.
