Played Grand Lake Golf Course in Montgomery yesterday.  What a pleasant surprise.  Really fun golf course in very very good condition.  It has some very interesting holes with lots of elevation changes to be so close in to Houston.  Overall condition was good.  Only had a couple of holes where the fairway had some beat up areas.  Greens rolled nice and looked very good.

If you go there to play, you need to know....
No driving range
No putting green
No beverage cart
No food or beverage service of any kind
No pro shop, just an office in the corner of their cart barn where you check in and pay.

It is a BYOB course.  You can bring food, coolers, drinks, etc.

The only real disadvantage I could see, there just was no place to sit down after the round to see who owes who.
The price is right, the course is nice.
Would play it again in a heart beat.

I second that! This was a great course to play. Surprisingly, I played over 15 courses in Houston area and this is easily in my top 2 favorite courses to play. Reminded me little of playing in Hawaii at times...highly recommend this course for its beauty and nice rolling greens.

Agreed.  Well worth the drive from Katy.  The first time was a shocker though with no food/ drinks. Still, a very challenging and interesting layout.  Also very affordable.  Just another of the hidden gems that I hope stays hidden.

Play well.

Wow My wife and I just played here on Sunday. Great course for what it is. Out of the way great layout for the area and fairly inexpensive. The layout is different when you leave Hole #6 and it seems like you go to a completely diffent course for 9 holes.I just wishe people could pick up the pace of play, fix divots on the greens and rake the bunkers.:beach:
