I'm not a very long hitter, so find myself often relying on my 3 wood. I usually need to make up some length on my second shot, sho am looking for a 3 wood designed for length. Any recommendations? Is the Exotics line a bunch of hype?

The Callaway X-Hots are the longest fairway woods I have ever tried. Distance was more like a driver. The Callaway Hyper-X Tour series is another good one; easy to hit off the fairway but launches low. It may be that you need a little more loft to increase carry distance?

If you're not a long hitter, a lot of times it's your launch that's too low, or spin too low.  i would consider a 16* 3 wood with a 43.5" shaft.  The Exotics line is long, and the superfast line is long...mainly because of a longer shaft and ultralight components.

TEE are definatley the longest 3 woods I have ever hit. I still dont know why I dont have one in the bag  :russian_roulette:

Edit in re reading your post I agree with one of the previous posters who said you may also see better results with a higher lofted 3 wood or 4 wood than an standard 15* due to the increased trajectory leading to more carry.

TEE in your favorite head size and face depth. Nothing else compares.

I use the CB3 Tour. It's longer off the tee than most of my playing partner's drivers.

I just bought a Callaway X-tour 13degreee from rockbottom.com. It cost $60 DOLLARS.

I swing about 95-100 MPH. For the first time in my life I got on in 2 on this par5  that I was ever so close to making but NEVER got on in about 4 years.
First time I went out there with this 13 degreee, bang. On in 2.

I got the S flex.

Try a 4 wood, may go longer.

Like everyone said, TEE but try their 4 wood (16.5).  These are LONG.  Most any Ti fw will go a long way - Mizuno MP Ti, r7 TP, Adams 9032Ti, TEE, etc.  The longest I've hit is a prototype Royal Collection BBD Type-H.  That one was only 5-10 yards shorter than my driver (and a steel face).  The r7 TP is second but it's a LOW launcher.

For pure length, I think the old Ping ISItec fairway woods are the longest I've hit.  Kind of a funky head design, but excellent performer.  You still see a few of these on tour.

R7 TP is super hot in most lofts but the 13* that I had was not as long as the Burner Tour 08 that I have.  Seems like TEE is the safe bet according to this site.

Sonartec or TEE.

Looking into the 4 wood is also a good idea.

Are you comfortable with the size and shape of your current 3W? Maybe you should just get the TEE that's closest to it. My last couple of 3W & 5W combos were shallow faced and smaller head. I tried the XCG and it was too big for my eye, I didn't feel comfortable setting up with it, nor swinging it. I likely could have gotten over that. I tried the CB3 Tour next and it was like a comfortable pair of shoes. It was close in style to what I was used to. Was hitting it perfect from swing one. Felt like I had had it for a long time. I just had to get over the joy of its performance. It was so long and workable, I got carried away a bit at first. I tried to kill every shot and go over tall buildings Posted Image all the time. After the first couple of rounds, I was hitting it (them) smooth and looooong. I can hit it low or cut corners over large trees.

I carry both the 3W  and 5W as well as a TEE hybrid.

I have played the TEE CB2 3 wood for years and it was always the longest I tried. I recently got an FT-iZ 3 wood and it is as long or longer than my CB2 and much easier to hit from the deck. Give the iZ a try, if you can get past the looks it is a great club.

Can't say I've tried the FT-iZ, but I've been playing a TEE CB1 for a few years now.  It's a 16.5* 4-wood and it's just as long as any other true 3 wood out there.

If you're looking for something to hit off the deck, the 16.5* is the way to go IMO.  But...after reading above, sounds like you should test both the TEE lines and the FT-iZ out and see which suits your game better.

TEE 4 wood. You won't be sorry. As for CB3 or XCG- the CB3 has a slightly deeper face and is more workable. XCG is more forgiving. Distance? They're both as deep or way deeper than anything else you'll find. Good luck!

You need to take a look at the PRGR EGG spoon.  It is bar none the longest, straightest, and easiest to hit 3 wood ever! Bar none! I just got mine to replace my FT-IZ and am constantly amazed at how crazy this new club is.
