My club actually just put in an AboutGolf simulator.  Pretty fun playing the Old Course in December!  Not sure why anyone would be up this way, but if you are, let me know.

I am going to go play in a simulator this week - I have not done one in about 5 or 6 years.  I hear the technology is much better.  I am looking forward to it.

The long game works pretty well.  Chipping is ok, but you have to get your head around what a 30 yard chip is.  I think we can all feel a 30 yard chip, but dialing up the right touch for this shot, when you have a screen 10 feet in front of you is weird.

Putting is also odd for the same reason.

Happy New Year OW !!

That sure beats the cold of Maryland.  Although they say it's supposed to be near 60 tomorrow we'll see.    I played one of the OCN courses about 5 years ago, I think it was The Panther, not sure.   But it was a beautiful course and fabulous clubhouse.   Enjoy the trip.

Congrats guys.  You've done a great job with the thread.  But I'm not surprised, Michigan is such a great golf state, and an avid sports state and fan base in general for all sports.    Over my years on this board and the previous one, I've seen many states/areas try and get a good thread going, you guys are the only one besides Maryland that I've seen do it.   Well Done!!

Hoping you all have a great 2011 Golf Season.

I had a feeling that was going to happen...oh well.

odshot - you should have got the 68s!

I woke up this morning and it was 45 and sunny.  I drove by a course and thought....I can sneak in 9 holes and DVR the game.  Then it got cold and windy!

No regrets with choice of irons.  I was up early this am and went in our hottub but noticed how much colded it was and how breezy it was becoming.  I still thought about golfing but checked the forecast and it wasn't pretty.  Stayed home and watched Big 10 football..what a waste of a day.

I spent most of the day eating and watching Karate Kid part 1 and 2 and hopefully 3!

Off work monday so that's the day I get fit for a driver.

Like my irons I might just buy what I want (Pretty sure I'm coming home with a 910 Kalli)!

Winter is back though!

Well, at least Michigan put up a good showing, for about a quarter anyway.  Sigh.

OD, what irons did you end up with?

KG, my money is on you getting that 910 with the matching fairway woods.

Mizzy MP63 5-PW with TT Dynalite Gold XP +1".  I also am putting this shaft in Vokey SM 50, 56,and 60.  Its not what I would have ever thought..but its what the shaft optimizer spit out as best for me.  It was a huge night and day difference.  I would never have picked it.

That analyzer is something.  That's what put me in regular flex, and I've never looked back.  The XP's are good shafts.

I actually just picked up a set of MX-300 heads here in the BST.  I'm going to try to give then the wood dowel treatment.  I'll report back once I build them and get a chance to hit them in the sim.

By the way hit 910 my 10.5 with 65 gram Kai'Li.  Its a monster.  I love this thing.  I haven't loved a driver in a couple years but this has me all excited.  I know its a weaker shaft...but it works perfect for my swing.  Enjoy yours Mike

I think I am learning that softer or weaker shafts is better for me.  One of my buddies laughed when it spit out my choices for iron shafts and an 84mph SS with 6 iron.  He plays Project X 6.0...same guy that begs for more strokes when we play.

You need a WITB signature.  What shaft did it recommend for you?  What is the wood dowel treatment?  Hope they turn out great for you!

I think it had me at KBS softstepped once one time, and KBS regulars the other time.  There were also a PX option (5.0 or 5.5 I think), and an XP stiff option.  I didn't care for the PX, and I liked the KBS better than the XP.

I used to have a WITB, but it changed so much it was unmanageable.  I think it was lost for good when the site went down a few months back.  Anyway, I'm going to try to lock into a set, so maybe I'll put it back up.

There's a few threads about the wood dowel treatment in the WRX shop.  Basically, you take 5/16" dowels and stuff them down the shaft so that they roughly are centered at the ferrule/hosel joint.  They supposedly make blades and other forged irons feel more solid, because they dampen some of the vibration (different than a sensicore I'm told).  I guess Joe Kwok does this on all his builds.  I'm bored, and I have a set of S300's laying around, so I figure what the heck.  I'll probably MOI match them too.

having second thoughts on the MP63s I see!

Did you order / pay for them already?

I was going to ask you in your WITB why not get another set of Nike VR Wedges?

LOL...I mentally toyed with switching to the MP68s but not going to.  I have paid for them..  I want the swingweight to match my irons and wedges.  The shaft in my irons is only available to the Mizuno company.  Thats why I am going with the Mizzy wedges versus Titty or Nike.  I was able to get the MP T-10s too for more spin.  I changed from Vokeys because the head weight is too heavy with the Vokeys.  I am keeping my Nike irons and wedges from last year.  I will say I am getting nearly identical grinds and bounce angles in the equivalent wedges.

nice.  Lucky you ordered before Jan 1st.  you can't custom order Vokeys or Any other old grooved wedge in 2011.  Only avail off the rack.

Unless you know someone; I know your not suppose to but they can still sell their supply of heads on hand.  Certain companies are more lenient than others..

Really??
I want to order vokeys with the New Spinner shafts but the salesman at DD said they can only custom order CC Vokeys.

I figured that didn't make sense - They are not allowed to produce them but I'm sure they still have some heads in stock.  I'm going to call my proshop tomorrow.

A few pics of the Dye course at PGA Village. Harder course than the rating IMO, plus the 20 knot winds= a score to embarassing to post. Had an 85 on the Ryder course the day before, I know an 85 would make TJ & OD puke, but it's ok for me.
