So we had a big scramble a few weekens ago, and I was lucky enough to be on the winning team (I take very little credit for this, I might add.)  I made quite a sizable profit, and I have been trying to figure out what to splurge on.

I have been eyeing the Footjoy Icons for quite some time, but didn't want to spend that kind of money on shoes.  Now that I have more than enough extra cash for the purchase, I am thinking it might be worth it.

For whatever it is worth, I am completely happy with every club in my bag, and this is the only golf-related purchase I can think of.

I appreciate everyone's help!

To me, they're worth it... but I got mine on eBay for ~$120.  I don't think I would pay full price for them (then again, I try not to pay full price for anything).

I also like them a lot and think they are worth it. I bought them off a friend who wore them twice for $100, so I got a good deal, but if you don't mind spending the $230 they're great shoes.

Very good shoes, not as good as adipures, but I still voted for the absolutely choice. I have 4 pairs of adipures and the all white icons FWIW.

For customization, yes. Other than that, no.  They are not better than the shoes they replaced, the Classic Tours.  The quality is lacking in this shoe.

OK… can I have more data please? I know the Icons are high quality materials shows… but if someone is not looking for that premium, do they noticeably fit better than the Contour line? Are they really more comfortable?

And do they do the "auto-lacing" (for lack of a better word) from that knob in the back anymore. I thought that was cool.

Boa sucks dont get it. regular laces for the win.

They fit amazing. if you liked contour, you will love these.

They have a better platform than contours. More stable for my feet through the swing.

Classics are the best, but they don't make them anymore.

Why not? I really want to know. What are your feet like and what shoe fits them?

Make sure you get fitted for the right size. Every pair of Footjoys I have owned have been a half size bigger than other brands, and I'm sure the icons are no different.

This is coming from a guy who has bought only Nike shoes for the last two years, and the new "zoom trophy" being my most recent investment.

Def agree that Footjoys will run different in size than Nike's. Regarding the Icons, absolutely the most comfortable golf shoes I've ever owned. They feel like your wearing a nice pair of handmade italian dress shoes but feel really comfortable walking in especially around the ankles. The torque bar and sole design are just pure performance when it comes to playing. Think of the shoes as an investment that will last at least two or three seasons and the price doesn't seem so out there. I got mine at cost for less than $100 but would def pay retail for another pair.

I've got 2 pairs of FJ's with the BOA system and absolutely love them!!!  One pair is the FJ MyJoy Icon because they don't offer the "regual" Icon in a narrow in my size...  I bought them at full price when they were new (a real splurge for me), but I haven't regretted a single step in them.

I'm wearing Nike TW SP-8's right now, but am really liking some of the Footjoy Icon styles.  How would you compare the Nike sizing to the Footjoy Icon sizing?

I worn the Nike TW's for a while, but I sprung for a pair of FJ Icon's this season. Got em' customized and even added my initials - great looking pair of shoes. Aside from looks - these are the most comfortable pair of golf shoes I've ever owned. Performance wise - they are extremely stable, providing excellent support. Best of all they're waterproof and durable - the materials are top notch. I not trying to sound like a FJ Homer, but you can't go wrong stepping up to a pair of Icons. They might cost a little more - but you spend good money for gear that fits your game best, so why not put good money into the best possible shoe for your feet. Good luck & good shopping...

Sorry to repeat myself from my other post, but did you have to change sizes going from the Nike TW's to the Icons?

I had to go down a half size from my SP8 Tour Saddles to my Icons. Best thing to do is go to a store and try them on before you buy. The great thing about Footjoy is that they offer a lot of width options.
