I don't know why he goes from such a low loft (7.5) to a 16.5. Very weird. I would think a 13 or even 15 would much well suited for him, although he would KILL me any time on a golf course so he much better well knows what suits him.

I go from a 8.5 to a 13. I do have a 15 but I hit down so much on my shots - the punch I love to hit - but once again, I couldn't even Bubba in my dreams. Posted Image

That is so awesome that he carries a right handed 3-wood.  I wish they would have shown him hitting it on CBS' coverage yesterday. ;)

Haha I just noticed that. My bad. I just found this through google without looking at it. His clubs in his bag are right handed too. Lol

He hits that 4 wood like 275+. He could probably go with a 5 wood and hit it past most guys 3 woods.

Completely different angle of attacks. Bubba's driver launch characteristics are amazing. From there, when your driver is optimized, he just fills the gap in between his driver and 3 iron.

PLAYER            BALL SPEED    LAUNCH ANGLE       SPIN RATE      ANGLE OF ATTACK      DRIVER LOFT
Bubba Watson      186mph                     13.5°                    2200rpm                     +5°                                  7.5°
Charles Howell III 172mph       7.0°   2800rpm -5° 11.5°

Why don't they force him to play the newer model since he just put :"major" on his title?

PING announced today it will sell 5,000 limited-edition all-pink  PING® G20™ drivers, inspired by the one used by Masters Champion Bubba  Watson, and donate 5% of the proceeds to its fundraising campaign,  “Bubba Long in Pink. Driven by PING.”

The bright-pink G20 drivers will be available in golf shops nationwide approximately June 1.

As part of PING’s campaign, the company made a $10,000 upfront  donation and gives $300 for every drive Watson hits 300 yards or farther  (up to 300 drives). To date, $61,600 has been generated. All funds  raised will go to Phoenix-area charities, chosen by PING with Bubba’s  support. Its effort is part of the “Bubba & Friends Drive to a  Million” initiative launched by Watson in January to raise $1 million  for charities this year.

“Bubba is already approaching the target of 300 drives of 300  yards or longer, and we wanted a way to provide ongoing support for his  generous cause,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “Even  prior to his win at the Masters, golfers were requesting pink  G20s.Through word of mouth, social media, and phone calls, the interest  was extremely high. We want to satisfy that demand while bringing even  more visibility to Bubba’s goal of raising $1 million.

“Golfers who own a pink G20 will be excited to have this prized  possession. They’ll not only enjoy the improved performance of the G20,  they’ll be participating in a wonderful cause.”

The drivers will have a bright pink shaft and clubhead featuring  the same technology that has earned the G20 high marks for its  performance from golfers of all abilities. The G20s are offered in 9.5º,  10.5º, and 12º lofts for right-handed players; 10.5º for left-handed.  There is also a version geared for women with 12º loft and a Ladies flex  shaft. All come with a matching pink headcover and a power-promoting  high-balance-point TFC 169D shaft labeled, “Bubba Long in Pink. Driven  by PING. Limited Edition 2012.” It is available in R, S, and L flexes.

Bubba's grips are PING 703  Gold (+1/32"). He takes 10 wraps of tape under his right hand, 12 wraps under his left.

What is the difference between +5 and -5? Does Bubba hit up on the ball with his driver?

Oh okay, I didn't get the +5 and -5 angle of attack. I didn't mean difference as in subtraction but thanks for the refreshment in math :cheesy:

So he launches it high with low spin. That's what I need to work on to hit it Bubba Long.

44.5"

That's what I'm talking about.

It helps when your arms are nine feet long

I've seen a G20 driver cut down and it makes the head look HUGE (huger).  Like a balloon on a the end of a drinking straw.

You know whats funny is that in every follow through picture, it looks like he is choked up on the club a good 1.5-2 inches.    I have never seen him hold that 44.5 at the end of the club, in effect he is swinging a club with an active length of 43 inches.    That's seriously short for someone that tall, with that much power, he is playing his driver at a retail 3 wood length.  lol

My local superstore has no G20's in stock since the Masters.  Just a few oddball 12* regulars and soft regs.

^^^  Seriously, how the hell do you get that many wraps under there?  I've put 4 a few times and the grip seemed to barely slide over that much tape...

Those are some seriously built-up grips.  I put 3 wraps under mine and they're not easy to slip on.  Lots of solvent and patience is the answer.

There's just no way. That's just misinformation.

That's just a MASSIVE grip produced by PING, plain and simple. I don't care what anyone says. I've done hundreds of grips and there is absolutely, positively NO WAY it's a reg grip with a DOZEN wraps.

Sorry.

Sorry.

Had the guy who built my clubs tell me the same thing. 12 wraps there's just no way; grips would burst. Either the special grip made for Bubba or some very thin wraps...

The place where i go to work with my swing teacher has a replica bag of every PING Tour player in a room. Including everything except for Bubba's pink driver. (I think they are getting one soon though!). Love to see him win the masters, completely deserved.
