I saw a dave pelz thing on golf channel the other day but i forgot the ratio he was talking about.

somehting like if you chip with a 60 degree, you should fly it 2/3 and it rolls 1/3.
with a pw, its 50-50 and with a 9 or something its more like fly 1/3 roll 2/3.

if anyone out there knows proper clubs and ratios pls tell me!!!

This is the exact system i use. Keep in mind you need to test this system out before you play a diffeent course. Their greens maybe a lot faster or slower than what you are used to. Also the ratio changes if the chip is uphill or downhill.

Great system, but shouldn't the lob wedge be 2:1?

Again, great system, I'm gonna use this out on the course.

I was taught to get the ratio first by pacing. Then reduce to the nearest 1/x . Then subtract x from 12 to get the club. Thus, if a 1 to 3 ratio , you would subtract 3 from 12 and get 9 iron as the club.

Yeah, you're right, although I'd say it's be something more like 3:2 carry to roll for me, but that's just semantics.  :cheesy:

I also forget to mention that uphill / downhill also plays a role in determing what club to hit.  If you're going up hill the ratio is decrased (use moer club) going downhill the ratio increases (use less).
