We received some C Kua shafts in last week. We are going to hit the 43x today and will report back. Short story is super light but stable. Tour players are putting in the 43 (which actually weights approx 47 grams) version and getting great numbers. Look good to. Dark Gold look. The 72 X will not be sold to the public but the series 59, 43 and 39 will.

Interesting trend- lightweight but firm-flex shafts. Looking forward to these numbers for sure...

I was very interested in these shafts until I saw the 9833 flex code on it.  Very soft towards the tip, pretty high launching I would assume.  I currently have the Miyazaki Kusala Black 83X in my I15 driver and love it.  Im not a huge fan of high launching shafts.  They do look good though.  Maybe the heavier models will be a bit stiffer than the 43's you have there.  Interested to see how they play.

I think I started the low weight/stiff flex combo haha.

I put a pink 55 gram X-flex in my old 905r and LOVED it playing at 44.5 inches. Wish I had it still, felt like I could go at it hard as hell and still keep control of it.

If Vijay is playing one they must be similar to the Black but lighter. Just a guess though.

These I beleive will be a little less expensive and are lighter. The 59x my buddy has has a flex code of 6788 so it's pretty tip firm. There is also a hybrid series of which I have a 105x, I have a few rounds in with it and so far it's the most consistent and best feeling hybrid shaft I've ever used.

I hit the Kusala Black, Blue and Silver in 72S shafts.  I just got a C.Kua 59S and a 72x so I hope to have a little information after the weekend.

Tai you mind must be deep in the gutter from staring the tiffany headcovers wayyyyyyyyyyy too much, even if Mark set that one up easier than a 2am run in with a chick on the rebound.

On a on topic note that is some crazy low weights for shafts, I would be very curious to read the reviews

Back to the topic:

I'm still really curious what the benefit of having such a light shaft, I mean REALLY light shaft is.  What kind of player will this benefit?  Interested to hear some feedback, they look really cool that's for sure.

Tai, as far as my experience from playing a super light shaft(mine weighed about 53 grams after install), I noticed a considerable difference in swing speed. With my current set up, my swing speed is 112, 115 on a good day. When I had the light one in my 905r, I would top out around 120.  5 mph is a pretty big difference in distance. I think it actually helped me feel the clubhead a little better as well. Might not make sense with such a light overall club, but I guess I would liken it to swinging a pool ball inside of a sock haha. The weight feels more at the low end of the club, seemed easier to really whip it through the ball.

No, I actually think I was more accurate with it. But it also played at 44.5 inches which might have had more to do with it than the light shaft.

I am absolutely loving my black 72x (tipped .75" which is how I bought it).  Extremely consistent with a boring flight that I've really never seen before. It's everything that I need in a shaft. The ball flight and feel are just perfect. I'm thinking that  a shaft in the 40 gram range with a Winn light grip would be something to seriously look into.

The whole graphite shaft thing started because of the recognizable benefits of a lighter shaft. This all makes sense, a lighter shaft should increase swing speed. Faster swing speed equals more distance.

I think this is the best time to build very light set ups.  Before a  light and stable shaft was in the high 60 gram range (Grafalloy Prolite  and Blue). A couple of years ago Matrix came out with a 50ish gram shaft  that was stable and lowish spin. Now these are 40 grams shafts  obviously offer tour quality stability which means very light overall  driver weight but I think the missing link was a light grip to get the  swing weight out of the C range.

From my calculations a 205 gram 7.5* lofted head (I have a brand new hotmelted 9064LD) with a C. Kua 43x (raw weight 47 grams) playing at 44.5 (my normal driver length) would be at C9 with a regular grip. Put a Winn lite grip on it and I'm at D4.5! Perfect for me! And even if the 43x spins more than my Black 72x that I'm playing now the lower 7.5* degree head should keep the spin pretty close to what I'm playing now except the overall weight will be approximately 59 grams less!

I agree with you 100% on the performance, I play a black 83x also tipped .75" in an I15 8* and the ball flight is amazing.  Im not sure how I feel about lighter shafts but if the new line can keep up with my swing its something to try.
Also about the grips, i recall reading that these shafts come with a special miyazaki light weight grip as a package with the shaft.

The grip would be a nice touch! Yeah I'm thinking that if some pros are using them then they must be pretty stable but we won't know until we try them. I know that light grip is a must to get a workable swing weight though.

A sledgehammer would be great as long as the shaft doesn't feel like it's on the end of a rope. I actually think that without the light grip you won't be able to feel the head throughout the swing with a light shaft.
