I am considering purchasing the TM R5 D driver, but I am really unscertain about the shaft. Anyone have opinions or experience with the sotck R Flex MAS2 55 shaft versus other shafts such as the available Aldila NV65?

I currently play a Cobra 460 SZ, R Flex stock Aldila nV65 HL shaft, 9.0 degree. I tend to be a high ball hitter and would be concerned that the TM R5 D 9.5 degree with stock MAS2 shaft would promote much too high ball flight. I have heard the shaft is tip soft and indeed does promote a high ball flight. So any personal experience and feedback is appreciated!

Have R5D in MAS 55 gram shaft in regular flex. Not using this as I now play the Neutral model. Played 10.5 & shaft flex was good for my SS (about 85 to 90). Even though tip soft I still found my ball flight was mid-low. Shaft frequency was about 245 so it wasn't too soft. Had no complaints about it though & playability was OK.

Have tried NVS reg. flex in another head  (also about 240 cpm) & it felt similar ie,. I was able to load both shafts when swung properly.

Friend of mine (plays to single digit h'cap) absolutely bombs his drives (when he is on) & has put the senior (M) flex MAS 55 gram shaft in his R5 N. Don't be put off by other negative comments & try it for yourself & be your own judge. If doesn't work out, then consider reshaft.

As for me I may rip the MAS 55gm shaft out & put it in the R5N. May just work for me. Hope this helps.

I played this shaft MAS2 55 s flex.

For me it was too light and I had trouble squaring the club face and pushing everything right. I felt I had zero control of the club head. I found the ball flight to be pretty high as well.
