echo the sun takes no prisoners! last fall, had a skin cancer removed. thankfully, it was the least of the cancer types, but it was growing. caught it early, and doc got it all. had been wearing hats some, but ignoring sunscreen...big mistake. now, it's a hat every time, and always, always sunscreen. it's important. grateful to have escaped serious problems....

I bought a couple Bridgestone hats an REALLY like them.  I'll have to check on the manufacturer, but they're some of the best-fitting hats I've tried.

I've got long hair, which is kept (almost) out of the way when pulled through the back of an adjustable hat.

I thought visors were nice (and cool feeling) until someone apparently started thinning the hair on the top of my head while I slept, now leaving some sun-burnable skin where the locks used to provide ample coverage.

But long hair, short hair, thinning hair or not, IMO the most important reason to wear a hat is that it improves one's ability to see the ball in the air on some shots, while the bill shades your eyes from the sun.

I have a few caps, a couple with corporate logos but prefer to wear more generic ones and not advertise for free. But I am available for a headwear contract.

I always wear a hat or a visor, and usually sunglasses when required. I like to try to wear a hat of one of the brands I have in the bag, either a club or ball I'm playing. The way I see it, I'm supporting a brand I trust ot use on the course.......not that it matters really in the end. Sometimes I've been on the practice green/warming up without something on my head but come time to tee off on first tee, the hat goes on.

I have to be careful about the skin cancer thing too as I have my dad's fair complexion and he has had to have several removed already. I usually wear one of my Bucs caps, myself (like another poster mentioned, it helps keep my long hair out of the way too).

I'm not a hat guy. In 15 years of playing golf, I've never worn a hat while playing. Although I've got a closet full of them that I received for free from various events, companies, etc.

I wear a full brimmed hat out in the W. Texas sun. I've had this ClubHats full mesh model for three years now, and it still looks brand new. I just wash it out periodically.

I almost always wear a hat. Now which one depends on what clothes I am wearing or more importantly if I shot a good or bad round the last time I wore it.

Golf without a hat just doesn't feel right. I always have either a hat or visor on.

For me it depends on the weather and then I will wear either a visor or ball cap.  Usually either Titleist (visor) or Scratch (cap).

Baseball cap.  No visors.  Sunburn on scalp once cured me of the visor.

I'm surprised there is no mention, either in the poll or the comments here, of hats which show courses' names.  That's generally what I wear, as opposed to manufacturer's logos.

I enjoy the reminder of having played at various tracks, and my clubs and balls have enough brand names applied already.

Never, my head sweats too much and the hat is ruined after a few rounds, plus I don't think I suit hats

Hat is a must for me.........No Hair!!!!!!!

www.tilley.com , I have the LTM8, mesh hat; wash (with the rest of the laundry), hang dry & wear.

Guaranteed for life, when you wear it out after MANY YEARS (as opposed to a few rounds), Tilley will replace it.

A hat protects your ears and neck, something a cap can't do.

I've played in 50 km winds and I can vouch that you will NOT loose a Tilley.

If you think they are too hot, I can also vouch that I can feel the slightest breeze through the mesh and there is no need for suntan lotion.

I play OVER 200 (hundred) games a year at my club. My hat has been through everything but snow and that, is because
the club closes when hell freezes over. It opens when the snow melts, March 6 this year, our all time record.

I wear a hat always because I have a bald head and when it burns it hurts!

Currently wearing either a Tatoo Golf hat or a Myrtle Beach Pelicans hat on the course.

It depens on the weather, and what I feel like.  Sometimes I will just wear the shades and no hat.  On a sunny day, this makes for a red forehead
