I bought a TM Burner TP Driver head on Ebay. It was listed as a "tour issue" club with a 8XXXXX serial with the "B" COR stamp. I noticed on other listings for similar drivers had serial numbers starting with a "T". What is the difference? Experts please explain.

What did I purchase? Is it a version 1, version 2 or something altogether different?

Never heard of anything special about a tour head with an 8XXXXX serial.  This is probably a retail head from tour inventory.  Maybe I am wrong and someone else will chime in.

Retail.  The first digit is usually year of production.  If you paid a premium for "tour," file a dispute.

While I frequently agree with the master-dissenter...

I don't know about this one. If it was advertised as Tour Issue with an 8xxxxxxx B stamp and came from the tour (which B stamp indicates it did and often happens - retail stock, tested for tour, etc.) then why isn't it still tour issue? It sounds like the product was not misrepresented in any way at all and you didn't do enough of your own homework on the front end.

That being said, there is a larger questions here... is that type of product (retail on tour) "tour issued"? I say yes it is. It's not TOUR ONLY, but is tour issued.

They do this when they pull a retail head and test it for tour use. most likely this was a head that was tested for a mini tour guy, so really it has the retail CG location just was tested to make sure it was conforming. i would try to get your money back if you were buying it under the impression it was tour issue, because the tour heads do have slightly different cg locations.

Thank you for the clarification. I was not concerned about misrepresentation, rather proper identification. I thank all of you gentlemen for your informed and insightful opinions. Mated to a PX 7A3 shaft, this is the straightest and longest driver I have own. The reason why I wanted to know what I purchased was because I want to obtain an additional head or two. I bored out the hosel to .350 in order to insert a loft/lie ferrule and reduce the loft from 8.5* down to the 7.0*-6.5* neighborhood. My excessive spin and high trajectory problems have been eliminated.

That's a dangerous vague response. I know for a fact that there are 8*, 9*, and 10* serial'd clubs on tour right now. There are pictures here from past tournaments with tour TM clubs that have retail serial numbers.

Any club with a B stamp was meant to be used in a PGA, top level USGA, or college event. These heads are 100% the same as a TXXXXX serial head just stamped differently. The heads are measured and weighted.

With comments like that you are going to get a ton of sellers with disputes filed and paypals locked. I know for 100% certainty this club pictured below came from the Tour department at TM.

To add, I also have TM FWY's that are direct from TM with 8XXXX serials, some are head only with full spec sheets and some were brand new with p9003X TM TP graphics shafts, direct from TM. R9 TP B's have serials, Tour Preferred B's had serials on the 7. It is inconsistent. With a retail looking serial, know your source, with a tour serial, you can rest easier but still know your source, same for no serial.

Well I learned something new today.  I have never seen a "B" stamped serial that didn't have the T at the beginning.  My apologies for adding to the confusion.

I have a head that has a Txxxxx but no B-what does that mean? I assume it's tour.

Doesn't matter if it is T stamped or B stamped...the only way you are going to figure out if this thing is a V1 or V2 head is if you trust the seller or if you get a spec sheet.  This is the risk you take buying built tour heads.

Only way to ensure is knowing the source of your head, or getting a build sheet with matching serial.

If you aren't getting a fresh head built to the specs you want, then save your money, and get fitted for a retail head.

The only TM head I can distinguish is a 282.
