Why would people wait until the last minute before golf season starts and just expect to get a customized club in a week anyway. Yeah, I'll just buy a Kia next time because I have to wait a month for the BMW to be ordered that I want. Why settle for hamburger steak when you can get filet?

Scratch is definitely no filet compared with Mizuno and Callaway and no one is settling by going a different direction.  In fact, if you are shopping for blades Protos and 68s are fantastic choices.  SB-1s are nice, but do are not an improvement over either model.

A better analogy is why would you walk when you can ride?  Also, many people ordered there clubs in January and February - not the last minute before season.  You can't get the 8620s - off the rack, retail - never mind custom.

We are still working through our backorder issues with the 8620 wedges.  We have 1018s fully in stock as of this week.  The 8620 issues are coming from the major production and supply issues that are going on in China right now.  I will say this again, if anyone has a wedge on order and is not happy with the current backorder condition we are more than happy to refund your money and let you know when we have the clubs in stock.  We are also looking strongly at trying to move ALL of our production, cast clubs included, back to the USA which would make our supply issues much much easier to deal with.  We are in talks with a few different companies that hopefully will be able to cast our 8620 wedges as well as in talks with someone who can forge our clubs here in the USA.  The hope is by sometime in 2011 all of our club heads will be 100% made in the USA.

mbshaf, I know you are unhappy that we did not hire you as a rep but that does not mean that you have to go around bashing us.

As always if anyone has any Scratch issues please feel free to email me at ari_techner@scratchgolf.com and I will get you taken care of.

Ari If that happens, and you start producing a 100% American made product by 2011 of the same quality you currently produce, i will have a 100% scratch bag by 2012. (well, irons and wedges anyway) I hope that plan is economically feasible.

I do think it is in poor form to openly call out mbshaf like that. He was responding to a statement that he disagreed with by stating that there are other company's to choose from. I don't see a ''bashing'' in anything he said. I haven't scanned all of his posts, so maybe he does find pleasure in taking a shot at you when he can. I don't know the guy from Adam or Adam Scott and maybe he does feel he has an Axe to grind. But you are a hard working, stand up, class guy and are better off rising above all that.

Good luck with your pursuit of an American foundry to produce your product. That is HUGE news.

Ari, welcome to the internet. You didn't turn me down for a job and I've done a little bashing myself. People are going to be hyper-critical when you have issues... and boy do you have issues. Lots of us are willing to be patient, but you have to understand that others are not going to be. You sent me two clubs that were not exactly what I asked for, but aside from a few grumbly posts here and there and even despite one slightly rude response by one of your employees, I'm letting it slide. A comment like this will start flame wars and is probably the worst move you can make.

We will only make the switch the 100% USA production if we can keep the quality on the same level.  I do not see that as an issue, price is really the issue if anything.  We are trying to make the switch without having to change our pricing structure and our pricing.  If anything switching over to completely USA made heads will increase our quality and give us a whole lot more flexibility over our supply chain.  I dream at night of driving a few hours or even getting on a short plane flight to see our suppliers rather than having to travel to Japan or China every time.

You are correct I apologize I should not have brought that up in the forum.  There is a long history there and it was upsetting to see him taking shots at us knowing the history behind it and my dealings with him.  I apologize again I was out of line.  If anyone has any issues please email me directly and I will get you taken care of yourself included.  I know we are having issues here with the 8620s and we are doing literally we can to get it worked out and are trying our best to move all our production to the USA to avoid these issues in the future.  That being said we are 100% committed to customer service and I encourage anyone who is unhappy to contact me so I can get you taken care of.

I received my 1018 wedges a few weeks ago, and they were well worth the short wait.  During the waiting process everyone at Scratch was more then helpful keeping me up to date with any backorder issues.  I had been playing with Titleist Vokey CC wedges prior to the switch and the feel and feedback that the Scratch wedges give me put all of my past wedges to shame.  Keep up the great work guys!

I dont think we should knock on Scratch...I am a shop owner and Im having a hard time getting stuff from alot of companies...Golf Pride is having a hard time getting the new tour wrap grip out to us, Titleist is having a hard time getting some clubs out to us and even US Kids is backordered on a couple of different sets....I know its bad for customers and we get mad as shop owners. After a long cold winter, when business was terrible, Im glad to see these companies are selling stuff...It could be the other way around!!

I guess real time on demand ordering will be on the way out...
lets see :
maybe it's a strike at the foundry in China,Thailand, Taiwan (god forbid that the people should strike for better living or working conditions)...
maybe its' a shipping delay with the ships being hijacked on the hi-seas...
maybe its a natural disaster such as an earthquake or typhoon...pardon me if the people care more about surviving then making wedges for us North Americans...
maybe it's nature telling us that we cannot travel by air, volcanic ash eruptions...

Whatever reason we better get our heads out of the sand and better start up our manufacturing again or at the very least start stocking supplies again...because I can tell you that this will be happening quite more frequently and with more products...

that's what happens when you outsource everything!!! duh!

100% USA, Ari for President. I would spend an extra $20 a club if meant jobs for Americans. In fact, the $400 I spend on a driver, I would think that should employee a few union workers. Anyway, I am a certified Scratch homer, after reading about them on this site I picked up a couple of used wedges. I wasn't fitted to them, just made the purchase and put them in play- a month later tried to put my Vokeys back in play and they just never felt good. I currently play the 8620's that I bought off Ebay new due to out of stock, and look forward to ordering some 1018's when its time to get new. I don't envy Ari trying to get Scratch mainstream (growing pains), and hope it doesn't get sold to a larger company someday, its pretty cool to have the options which Scratch allows with their wedges. To all the people attempting to order, they are worth the wait. Stay classy, love your product....

mbshaf- You probably should take this matter up with Ari privately. He apologized for attacking you 2 times. There really was no need to make your gripes with Scratch or Ari public after that.

Take it to PMs and move on, please.

I don't want to have to revisit this, thanks. :)

I'm with buying american products, feel and quality aside, its time everyone turns their focus to building quality american anything.  On this issue, I would like to be able to go anywhere and try a scratch product. Word of mouth will never cut it for me when it comes to clubs.  Good luck to those waiting on orders, I saw a big post on here about tour van vokeys!

Well I got one of my wedges. I got the 60. It's stamped the way I wanted it, and Black the way I wanted it.

The white paintfill is blotchy in spots and has bled or smudged a little in others. I was so happy to finally see a Scratch box in the hallway when I got home from the office today.

Perhaps I'm being too fussy and to be honest I don't care anymore. I'm still waiting for my 56 and I ordered both wedges on Feb 22.

Apathy might help my golf game in the long run!
