Pulled a old set of Wilson 1200 GE irons out of the garage on the weekend, gave them a clean and had a hit today with them.  They were surprisingly good! I currently game Ping G15 and the Wilsons reminded me of another set i have in the garage that I love, Tommy Armour 845.

The Wilsons have a Dynamic Gold shaft that they came with when I got them in 1988.  They need a regrip and they will stay in the house this winter (dry season here in the tropics) for regular play during the weekday comps.

Anyone else recently played an old favorite?

Anyone else with some love for the Wilson 1200 GE??

I'm going to try my old Accuform PTM Irons this week. They are the best feeling irons I've ever used . Buttery soft feel in a stainless steel head.

I gamed Wilson staff blades for a while.  Found them in a used shop for $20.  Every bit the classic I expected them to be.

Yep. What he said. I try once or twice a year to kick them out just to keep things interesting.

Was home for the weekend and played with dads Hogan PC's. Circa 82 i think? Very few irons come close to what these feel like when you hit them solid.

Can't touch that, but I recently put a set of decade old irons back in the bag...Mizuno MX-20's.  I've been playing all the latest greatest stuff for the last 5-6 years since I'm a true club ho.  But was thinking about the best set of irons I've ever had and the MX-20's came to the top of my list.  I found a mint set on ebay, got them reshafted and man are they sweet.

I'm seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on some PING ISI nickel irons.  Currently game i5's and love em', but always had a soft spot for the ISI's.  Tough to find my specs though.  That GD article was B.S.  Just a pathetic way to boost club sales if you ask me.

put powerbilt scotch blades in my bag a few weeks ago thinking that they would be a joke on the course, I was dead wrong they have the best feel to them and my swing seems to be in love with them. I have had two 1 foot or less tap ins on par 3's in my last two rounds with them. Distance is about the same as my cavity's that I was using before and these feel so much better. I am still in shock and not taking them out of the bag yet.

Another MX 20 player here. I keep going back to them. Im on my 3rd set. Picked em up on ebay a few months ago in Mint condition. Had them bent to my specs and I reshafted them with standard DG's...hated the Lite shafts. Threw some new M21 grips on and the set looks like new. However like everytime I play these... the long irons can be demanding on off days. But thats for another thread...

I still have my 1200 GE's, I was shooting mid 70's with them in high school. 20 years later this summer I tried them and they were amazing. I've hit titleist, Eye 2's, and these take the cake. Most likely bc they were my first real set. I had an old set of Hubert Greens in junior high, a 3,5,7,9, but got GE's for Xmas and played some great golf with them. I still love em. I have 2 full sets. Nice new decade grips, a new Titleist 913 driver, Anser 4 Putter, Vokey wedges, these irons fit right in.
Guys at my club can't believe how small they are but they still hit so pure.

I had some Scotch Blades 20+ years ago that my dad played for a decade before that.  Absolutely one of the best looking clubs from that era.  Unfortunately the Dynamic C flex just became too much.

My gamers are Hogan pc5 irons from 1967. I love them but I am not delusional enough to think they give me the best chance to score well. So I am getting fitted this weekend.
I plan to keep the Hogans and play them from time to time just for fun.

My Eye 2+ are 24 years old and still look new.  They are indestructible and play as well as anything made today.  My putter is just as old.  My driver is "modern" though - it's from 2005.  :taunt:

Love the 845s. Picked them up in 1992 and played regularly until Ping i3blades in 2002. Just switched to Wishon 575s last week. While I love the look and feel of Wishon (and played best round of year 1st time out w/them) all the great memories are with the 845s. Stuck in p's garage, so I play them whenever I go back home for a visit. For some reason, 845s never felt nor looked like GIs to me. Always pure. Anyway, I digress...  Nice topic for a thread.

When I'm between sets or just need to score in a tournament I will pull out my old Daiwa Advisors…They have always performed for me. They have 20+ years of play on them, so what does a HO do….That's right I found a mint set on line for $99….
