I find it hard to believe he uses a firm flex in his irons...project x 5.5? Weak flex on his wedges, too? Hmmmm.....sure its not 6.5?

Seems like 99 percent of pros use x flex shafts as far as I know.

Not quite

Anthony Kim S400, Mike Weir S300, Luke Donald (maybe still, if not until v.recently) S300, R Imada S300 & Westwood with his trusty Ping JZ, (equivalent to stiff at best) When Garcia used DG, he played S300, as did Adam Scott, admittedly the tour version, which is slightly stiffer. I'm sure there are several more

MM isn't a long hitter yet. As he develops he will probably move to a firmer flex. Until then, 5.5 obviously suits him fine

When it comes to wedges, S400 are usually a better way to go than X100 because the swing is much slower with those clubs.  Very rarely do pro golfers or accomplished players go at a wedge 100%.  The swing is shorter, and softer, therefore, it requires a weaker shaft for the shaft to load properly.  With X100 in shafts that short and swings speed that smooth, the shaft doesn't load properly, if at all.  I made the switch and it makes a WORLD of difference.

Good move if he did, I had a 6b7 for a week and sold it, terrible stuff compared to some ust offerings.  That boy needs to hit the gym.  He is frumpy already.

I dont know, hes not notoriously a long hitter, he might in fact use a 5.5 flex which is equivalent to an s300, a 6.5 in project X is pretty stiff.

It is quite refreshing to see a bag with just two wedges rather than 4 or 5.

A lot of guys on tour play 2 wedge setups now.  You may see a bunch in the photos because they may carry more in practice with different bounce/grinds.  Many players play only 2 plus PW or 3 wedge with a wedge that replaces the PW at the same loft.
