Last week I was going through the closet and found an old Orlimar Hipsteel 14* tour issue fwy wood, I decided to shaft it up and try it,,,man let tell you guys and this is no lie, this thing was 15 yds behind my driver, yes I said 15 yds, I played three rounds with it, I just don't know what to say, I am beyond words, anyone else ever play one or hit one?

Back 5 or 6 years ago I carried a 16* w/ a Pro95 as my 3 wood.  The Trimetal+ and the Hip Steels were great fairway woods and very long.

I still play a 12° tour issue (13° measured, 1° open). It has an original version Vista Pro (dark grey). Solid as any and haven't found a replacement yet. A flat out cannon!

I have never hit a bad Orlimar driver or 3 wood. They make great stuff, maybe I need to get over myself and put one back in the bag.....

I had a 14 degree tour head too.  No alignment on top, slightly open...great 3 wood.  I had a VP90 in mine.

Always nice to see a mention of a sadly overlooked club from the early 00's. Came out around the same time as the TaylorMade 200 steel, and between the two I always preferred the Orlimar. I played the Orlimar HipTi driver 315cc (9.5) for years, still have it. I think these were the last woods Jesse Ortiz designed for Orlimar before moving on. Fairway woods are just gorgeous, great set up. I think a Fujikura Speeder was the stock shaft.

Too funny. I was close to buying an Orlimar from Play-it-Again sports about a week ago. Maybe I'll go back and see if they still have it.

The stock Fuji in the hipSteel is essentially a Vista Pro not a Speeder. The 12° I play has the aftermarket VP and the 22° has the stock  fwiw

The Trimetal II was the last and also a cannon. The stock shaft was by Penley (Stealth) and has similar graphics as the Fuji in the hipSteel just different colors (grey /red). The face has CT-801 on the toe and has the raised sole design  similar to the Bobby Jones fw's. The King Par version of the TMII has a maraging face insert and a proprietary Aldila that's black and green  iirc

These are not my auctions just giving examples...

Hope this helps!

King Par.

The infamous hipTi 420 by Ortiz (as long as any to this day) reads as this on the sole;

'x'°

Orlimar
Trimetal hipTi

420cc
