I currently use driver, 15* 3 wood, 20* & 23* rescues, 5-pw, 52*, 56*,60*. All my shafts are regular (e.g. irons DGR300, Titleist 905R with GD YS6+.)
I'm happy with my set up for my home course where I use the 3 wood (Callaway X) mainly for tight tee shots and where the par 5s have most of the trouble near the green and therefore are better played as 3 shotters using a rescue or iron to lay up.
However, I sometimes play at windy seaside courses and think that I might be better substituting the 20* with an 18* hybrid for a lower flight and to close the gap with the 3 wood. Also, the deep-faced Callaway can be a handful off tight links fairways.
The problem is that I've been told that hybrids of less than 20* are inconsistent in a regular flex.
Anybody agree or provide evidence to the contrary?

I play 14* Nickent 3dx RC, 18* Idea Pro, and 20* Idea Pro. Benched the 3 wood. This combo works great in the wind as the 14* hybrid doesn't seem to balloon as much as a 3 wood does in the wind. Until I find the appropriate fitting 3 wood/shaft combo, this is the set-up I'm going with.
