I'm starting to wonder why they even have replaceable spikes anymore. I understand that in the day of smooth leather soled shoes, having a metal spike would give a lot of extra traction.

When I look at the soles of my shoes (360 LTD in particular) they have such an aggressive pattern of nubs and ridges, that I can't see the spike making all that much difference.

Don't you think the replaceable spikes protect the nubs that are built in?  And if they wear down too low without being replaced your sole nubs would wear off?

My favoite replacement spike is any spike that someone else will put on for me!

I prefer the Adidas spikes.  The wear better than the black widows and are more comfortable than the stingers.

The new Champ Zarma looks promising.
http://champspikes.c...moredetails.jpg

The black and white Stingers are probably FJ exclusive for the first year.  I think they do other colors for the tours to up their counts, but not yet at retail. :(

You are going to need the THINtech cleats for the new 2010 adidas lineup.

I suppose they could, I just haven't ever managed to walk the bottom off of one of my shoes. It's usually something else that fails long before the sole shows significant wear. In fact, the only spot I notice much wear is when the "arms" of a soft spike breaks off when I wear the shoe in the parking lot. But I also make a point of not wearing the shoes much off the course, I change into something else as soon as I complete my round.

CHAMP STINGER.  Love yellow and black, and I love a heavier and stronger golf spike.  Given the amount of us with Tour 360's and FootJoys this poll may be a blow out.

I like the Adidas spikes the most, but the Stingers are a close second.

If your shoes take FAST TWIST spikes, ADIDAS is now selling their new spikes on the rack with everybody else's:

Black Widows are tops for me.

They get into the grass while still being soft.

Most importantly, I can easily get them out of my shoes ..... don't have to open my toolbox and don't cut myself in the process.

It was always Black Widows for me but they don't seem to wear very well and often a "tooth" will break off one or more spikes on the shoe. I found a great price on Champ Stinger spikes in bulk on eBay and have now switched to them.

I won 48 of the red and white ones, for 20 dollars plus 1.90 shipping on ebay. They came today, and I replaced the black and yellow ones, in 3 out of the 7 pairs that I own.

Snow on the ground here now, again. Might be a while before I test them out. Can't see they are any different than the black and yellow though.

Three wkx ago, I went to GolfTown to buy spare spikes for 2010. I mentioned to the salesman that I had recently ruined a good pair of Fj saddles trying to remove a Champ spike from them (the whole housing came out with one of them). He told me that, THAT was the problem with trying to fit a Champ into a Softspike housing (even though it says "Tri-lock fits Fast twist"on the box), they are harder to remove, people don't care and, we sell shoes b/c it's not covered by the guarantee. If your shoes are fitted for Softspikes, it's better to stick with them. They sell over 4,000 pairs of shoes a year so I'll take his word for it...Bought 10 sets of Black Widow Tour on sale at $5.00 less a box.

Another vote fot the adidas spikes (pre 2010), especially for their durability.  The new thintech spikes use a unique connector (pins) which only fit new adidas shoes.

A little off OP but does anyone know why FJ's premium shoes are stocked with Stinger cleats and not SoftSpikes?

Cheaper, better deal

Friend helping a friend

Won a contract in a golf game

Won a contract in a card game

Champ found a contract in a box of Cracker Jacks

Champ caught his wife in FJ's shoes

Equity, spread the wealth

Who knows why, they're both good spikes and almost interchangeable

Obviously, I need to get back on the course................Oh, my home course opens tomorrow.  Posted Image  Posted Image Posted Image  Posted Image Posted Image

Stick with the Stringers, I just put black widow tours in my FJ's and after 4 rounds they are almost wore down to nothing. Going back to the regular black widows and might try out some Stingers.
