How much longer do you guys think Duval will play. His slump is going on three years. I have to wonder how much longer he can take his poor play before he hangs up his sticks. My guess is he is done as soon as his Nike contract expires.

Positional Vertigo can last 6-8 months. I've had patients who it lasted longer. So there's a third of the time gone.

I dont think Duval is all that far off. The guy hammers the ball on the RANGE. If he could get the confidence to get it on the course then he could make a cut.

Wishful thinking. The power of the underdog. The allure of holding on to dreams. It's all nonsense. Duval is past done. Who does he think he is fooling? He just played one of the easiest courses (because the weather was perfect) and he was not even close to the cut.

I tried to be a fan as long as I could, but it is time to move on.

To answer the question, unfortunately DD can drag this out for another two years when all his exemptions run out, then he can get one more year for being a good guy, then what? So we are probably stuck seeing his name for at least three more years.

I watched DD very closely at the Bay Hill earlier this year and he was hitting some very bad shots. Since then, he has gone back to his old swing (strong grip, etc.) and has driven the ball better and hit more good shots. However, he is still prone to the occasional wild tee shot, and his short game is absolute garbage. His striking stats at the Open were not horrible, but he had 69 putts in 2 days - nobody could score well rolling the ball like that! I am hoping he can get it back as I am a huge fan. Golf is more interesting when he plays the way he is capable of playing.

It's quite simple, Duval just doesn't care anymore. He played a total of 5 holes in the off season (he said this himself). By all accounts he hasn't been putting a huge effort into practice or play itself anymore. He would rather be snowboarding or spending time with the family. That's fine, but he shouldn't be taking sponsors money or playing PGA tour events if he's not willing to put the work in.

Yes, Duval has had some personal and health problems. But the effects of vertigo would have gone away a long time ago. And almost everyone has to deal with personal or emotional problems of some sort and still perform at work. Look at what Daly's gone through. Four wives, alcoholism, gambling, smoking, obesity. He is still dealing with these issues and yet spends a lot of time on his game and won the Buick in '04.

Duval's heart is in another place now, not on the course.

Michelle Wie will win a PGA event before Duval again.

Maybe just maybe if we and all the media got off his back he could get his mental game back and return to the old form that made him great. just a thought

You have a great point about John Daly....... what Duval had done is nothing compared to Big John.

And Now, John is back playing good.

I concur especially about being a fan and moving on. I wanted the guy to show up this year and was rooting for him but now he's just making a joke of himself. When people are taking bets on whether a 15 year old girl is going to beat you in PGA tour event and you were the former world's #1...I'm thinking its about time to concentrate on snow boarding.
