I'll start.

Tiger Woods - Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cord, standard
Adam Scott - Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cord, +2 Wraps

If i'm wrong, correct me but let's start adding what all the players on tour use in this thread.

I didnt know Rory was a ribbed man - thanks for the info. Also goes without saying any ribbed user is a "logo up" guy, unless something very weird is going on ;)

As a ribbed user also,id be interested to hear who else on Tour uses reminder grips.I kind of just presumed it would be a few of the older guys.....

Thanks for that

Maybe its just the UK,maybe its just my area, but i struggle to get hold of ribbed grips.None of my golfing buddies or anyone i play with regulaly uses them either. Why i presumed it would just be a few old school guys using them.

As someone obviously in the know - have you got any idea of the split on Tour between ribbed and round ?

I don't feel comfortable throwing out a definite percentage, but I would say mabye 15-20% use ribbed (Do a search as I believe there are some other threads on this site discussing this).  Many people who dislike them feel that when opening/closing the face the rib is a distraction.  It is most definitely a common misconception that only old school guys are using them on tour though.  With so many people turning their grips logo down they have become somewhat harder to find but plenty of people are still using them and I personally don't have any problem getting them in the states.

Phil uses the Midsize (+2 wraps). He used to use 8 wraps, including the double sided tape, on his old Royal Sand Wrap grips.

I'm just getting ready to go to mid-size NDMC white grips.

Got tired of putting four wraps of tape under each grip.

Glad to see some guys using mid-size. I was starting to worry i was making the wrong move.

John Daly uses Gripmaster leather grips.

These are not cheap, but leather gives the best feel in my view.

You can grab a wire coat hanger, cut it, tape it to shaft then put your favorite grip on for ribbed. Quite old school ;)

wow I guess PGA players have huge hands....8 layers of build up tape? Jesus....or are they deliberately making their grips larger to avoid the left side?

From the USGA Rules of Golf

Grips on woods and iron clubs are allowed to deviate from circular by having a slightly raised rib running along the full length of the grip (often called a “reminder rib”).
“Slightly raised” is interpreted to mean that the maximum and minimum diameters of the cross-section at any point must not differ by more than 0.040 inches (1 mm). This measurement can be taken using a pair of calipers.

Depends on how thick the coat hanger is...

another rule indicates that it must be part of the grip or club....thus you can have a reminder built in the grip itself.....but you cant add another object in there to give you a reminder

I LOVE having extra layers of tape and i too thought i was weird for using 5 under my lamkin grips.  unfortuantely, when i order new titleist's, the most they'll go is +4 wraps to +1/16th.

If you don't mind putting then on yourself you can always order your clubs with grips uninstalled and then you can get them up to +5 and not have to pay for replacement grips as soon as you get your new clubs.

i don't think that's right. i contacted the usga about adding my own rib to a club. they responded with rules concerning the height of the rib, the width of the rib, and the fact that it must run from the top of the grip to almost the end of the grip. i've built grips in accordance to these guidelines, and i'm pretty confidant they're legal.

it must be in the decisions book because ive read it before....i know you cant use wire or something to that extent....its always been unclear if you can use tape to build a rib....because tape could be considered part of the club since its how to get the grip on

personally i dont care about the rule and dont think it gives an advantage but just trying to rely my understanding of the rule and what ive read before
