I was just looking at my Bag and got me thinking how much i have spent on having a set up I like. Im not taken in consideration of retail price but of what i have spend on it on buying my different equipment and im just over $1k for what i have payed for my stuff. This is not considering all the other back-ups have just laying around. I only have a couple items i bought new mostly my bag consist of used clubs. We must really love golf ;)

I would say you will find that about 85% of WRX has at least $1k invested in their bag given our nature of the hoing life! I'll just say that I'm nearly at $1k with just my irons...darn upcharge for Project X!

At this point in time, thinking about it, would just probably make me wonder why I keep buying clubs, and still have college loans and a car loan.  Could have sent myself twice through college and bought about 3 BMW's for what I have spent over the last 15 years.  But, its for the love of the game and thats why we are a part of this website.  We are all addicted, in some form or another, to this game and all of its aspects.  And thats what keeps us buying and coming back for more.

With everything that I play in my sig my bag cost me just over $400 and that includes the bag. Now I have alot of clubs sitting on the bench but that is what I play. I also buy used clubs from time to time or find good deals on the bay from reputable stores. Also built the snake eyes wedges during the last couple F&F sale.

Wish you hadn't made this post. Just sat down and thought about it and I'm in the club. I used to think I was a frugal club shopper. Although the bag would have been double $1k if I had paid retail. I just barely got to 1K with the bag.

It's hard to keep track with all the trading I do. I paid like $200 for a set of tour TA2 irons with PX shafts in them like 6 years ago and have traded irons almost at not extra cost all the way to today. I think I have spend more and lost more on drivers, they lose their value much quicker. My FWY woods haven't changed in a year but before that I played 2 or 3 different Cleveland Steel (tour issue) FWY's that cost me beween $100 and $150 each. Sold them for close to the same. Wood shafts have also been somewhat expensive. I'd say I have made a profit on hoing clubs lifetime, I am a thrifty ho at least.

Let's see:
R7 425 - $0 (was a valentines day gift from the wife)
Aldila shaft in said driver - $9
Mizuno F50 3w with Aldila shaft - $129
Callaway X 2h - $7 (got a $250 callaway gift card from lending tree when I bought my house)
Nike PC Tour 3-PW and S400 shafts - $225
Cleveland 53* wedge - $20
Vokey 56* wedge - $20
Oddesy putter - $100
Grand total - $510

I just dont see the allure in spending top dollar on brand new stuff when the same stuff can be bought much cheaper used. I'm the same way with cars. I've had 1 new vehicle of the 9 that I have owned.

Check out whats in my bag. You do the math. That doesn't include my cart bag or shoes. Can't forget the shoes. None of that means anything unless you know how to use them or like the way they play. I will side with like the way they play. :crazy2:

I'm in the same boat..  I have a handful of good hookups that really help.  Also, being able to do good clubwork is the real kicker.  I can either sell heads and shafts as separates or can install and charge for the work.  When I upgrade shafts, I usually get the old shaft, and usually reuse it.

A good buddy and I were just discussing this the other day.  My wife tries to bit@h about all the clubs and that it must cost me TONS of $$$ , but everyone I know comes to my defense--usually because they get awesome gear at great prices also.

As for what it'd cost me to replace my bag, that's tough.

I got my CG7 Black Tour irons for cost, so good deal there, and replaceable...but my putter is irreplaceable for me--I've never seen the same putter before.  The driver and hybrid are also nearly irreplaceable--so much so that I wanted to cry when the hybrid head started to slip (as most every head I've ever seen on an Epic shaft does after a long period of use).  I pulled the hybrid apart and reinstalled...held my breath the first time I hit it, hoping it'd perform the same!!!  I have so much confidence in both of them and they are somewhat one of a kind--bought the hybrid like this, so I'm not sure how much the shaft is tipped or anything, it just flat out performs.  Also, the hybrid Epic is tough to find at times.  As for the driver, it''s a bit special itself.  It was built at the Kingdom (TM's fitting site).  It has a Fujikura 6Z08 X in it, but has no graphics--plain black shaft.  Also, the head is dead square.  I've built drivers with identical specs only to have them all perform different...I'd be devastated if something happened to this driver!

All in all, replacement cost for same specs, though sentimental value is irreplaceable, would probably be as follows:

Driver -- $200ish
irons -- I'll the lowest I've seen them at retail here, don't think Cleveland would appreciate me listing cost -- $700
3 wood -- $175
wedges -- $180 for all 3
hybrid -- $125ish
putter -- $100 for a retail one...though as I said, mine is a pretty rare version that I doubt I could find
bag -- $140
rangefinder -- $300
accessories -- $125 (divot tools, tees, balls, gloves, spare cash)

TOTAL -- right at $2,000...and I don't know if that could get it all replaced at the current specs if for instance my clubs were stolen and I had to buy at retail tomorrow for a quick tourney or something.  It'd probably be closer to $2500 in that case.

It never fails to amuse, the d*ck sizing that goes on in this forum.  We don't care how much you spent on your bag.

Lol, and it's both sides of the spectrum.  Either "Look at my r9, mp32's, and Scotty I spent $250 for" or "I've spent $5,000 on ten drivers, 3 iron sets, and countless putters."

Sorry everyone, only in jest...kind of.

with most current drivers at $300
most iron sets at $700
putter $200
wedges $100 ea by 2
hybrids/fw $150 ea by 2

I'd bet the vast majority of us have over $1000 in our bags, and many would have about $1700 without even getting all that fancy with things

I would venture to say that many members have more then $1k in shafts alone. Maybe you should have said who has less then $1k...or who has over $3k.
