From the shot he hit on the 72nd hole and from this photo, I believe he is using the Hump shaft.

Posted Image

He uses golf shafts with as stiff a tip as possible, and I don't think that the 950, fit that profile.  WB, Oban and 904HB do.

Furyk still plays shafts made by Apollo. They are called Hump. You can still find them for sale online but most shops don't carry them. Look at your typical steel shaft. You will see an area just above the hosel where the shaft doesn't have any steps for say 7-10 inches. Where you see that space imagine that it's like double the size diameter wise then narrows back down into the hosel. The concept is exta tight stability if the torque department for better dispersion control. He has been playing these forever in his irons. I don't think he uses them in his wedges but he might. You can find them for really good prices at component sites say 8-10 dollars a shaft. Apollo tried to make a run at the big market but couldn't keep up with TT. They were actually stock in cobra for a while when cobra was a so so company in the mid 90's.

VJ supposedly 'hoarded' a serious hat-full of complete sets of hump shafts when he was using them - like literally 50 sets or something silly.Presumably on the premise that they were being phased out, were hard to come by etc - so he had the lot !!!!
I also remember the ones he used being absurdly stiff - like effectively playing to a 7.5 or 8 flex on the Rifle scale or something equally daft. He's a big strong boy for sure.....

Just googled those shafts. They promote low ball trajectory and the price is $8.30/shaft. Interesting...

Definitely an FT9 in the final round of play.... with an Oban shaft.

I'm surprised a guy of Furyk's status in golf does not have a bigger club/company contract. I think he would be a good fit with Callaway.... why not switch his whole bag over to Callaway for the 2011 season that would be cool...

Furyk put the ZTX irons in play this week, not his custom 506 irons.  Check out the picture above, and pay attention to the cut of the cavity, if you look close you can see that they are ZTX irons and not 506 irons.

The putter actually isn't considered a cameron & co as that is another model by Scotty.  It's a Scotty Cameron welded longneck laguna made in 2000.

Great info. Would love to see those new irons in LH some day, but I won't hold my breath.

Looks like his grips are a mixed bag as well. Definitely Lamkin on the FT-9, but I swear I saw some old school victory greens on the irons and/or wedges yesterday on the the tv.

He definitley had the FT9 in play on sunday.  I also noticed some old school grips on his irons.  I know they said he turned his putter grip upside down.  Did anyone notice a cap on top of the grip?

I saw this too, apparently he did not change to the ZTX irons until later in the week.  I believe these pics were from Monday or Tuesday. But he had them in the bag by Thursday.

Below is a quote from the press release

During the 2010 Transitions Championship, Furyk played a Srixon® Z-STAR™ X golf ball, Srixon® Z-TX™ irons (3, 5-PW), a Srixon® hybrid (19°), and Cleveland® CG15™ wedges (50°, 56°, 60°).

It appears that Jim uses Lamkin Crossline Full Cords on his Woods and then Lamkin Classic Half Cords on his Irons and Wedges.

He just talked about his putter, and the upside down grip set-up he's been using lately on "Inside the PGA Tour".
