Verifying PING serial numbers

Read of several people selling  ping clubs that the serial number can be verified.Can anyone explain how this is done?

It's a 3 step process:

  • Dial 1-800-474-6434
  • Say, "my serial number is XXXXXXX"
  • Wait for response.

or you can email (ping.com) them and in a day or 2 they respond back... but the phone number is definitly way quicker...
