OK this is not a forged by so and so, or, are they really mizunos thread. I just found it interesting while looking at the cover of the latest Golf World that Tiger's iron looks like it has a shallow cavity on the top half of the blade. Maybe its just the photo. Did anyone else notice this? And yes, I know he doesn't really play VR's, just wish I could convince a few stubborn ppl I know! DUH!

Looks more like the light hitting the club than anything, giving it the shallow cavity look.

I thought that at first, but it is a very distinct shape, but you're probably right. I 've seen closeups of these blades and never saw any cavity-ish area. At least I hope it will put the VR question to rest.

Well that's clearly an early prototype of MP-68. :jester:
I think he has been playing those nike proto VR's for the most of the season.

They look more like the origonal Nike blades with new badges to follow the VR advertising.

i own a set of the original nike blades, and a major difference is see which is incorporated in both the retail vr and tiger's irons are the squareness of the sole into the hosel, rather than a more rounded look of the original blades.

I just know that I for one don't care what Tiger's playing, what he's doing, how his new home is coming, or anything else "Tiger".

So I'm a bit confused. Is Tiger playing a Prototype VR blade or his original Nike blades he had before his injury? I only ask this cuz I thought in a post a ways back said Tiger had gone back to his original irons and ditched the VR blades. I also thought his original blades had the TW logo stamped on them and the VR blades he was playing when he first came off his injury had the actual VR stamp. I'm just looking for some clarification for myself that's all.

I don't think he ever had any real Vr sets in play. The ones earlier this year were the Nike Blades with some VR coloration, but his irons have never had the two tone look of the Vr's.

Tiger was playing the vr blades for awhile. He was struggling after the knee injury and went back to the irons that he was comfortable with. The muscle shape is very close to the original blades, but where the sole meets the hosel is flatter. They are custom. That's really all there is to it. Custom Nike blades.

What appears like a shadow cavity to you is actually lead tape. I've seen hi-res photo's up close.

Tiger is playing last year's irons. He did, in fact, put a set of Vr's into play but pulled them in favor of his older irons. That is not a cavity on the blade; it is just the light.

well, considering that picture was taken on Saturday of the presidents cup, and I was there, and I saw him hit the same club from behind a tree later that day, from 5 feet away, I can attest that there's no cavity

Not even close. Blades can be different in many ways....

offset, blade length, COG/ weight distribution, etc.

pretty hard to miss "history being made".... I haven't missed a thing. He's changing the game, there's no doubt.

Perhaps some of you don't understand english, or simply have comprehension problems. I didn't say anything negative about Tiger, just simply that I don't care.

Maybe if more of you cared about how he behaves himself on the course, he'd get the hint that he needs to control his temper and ACT like a professional, not just play like one. How many times is he allowed to throw a club before someone explains to him that it's a gentleman's game and takes some sort of action about his actions?

Give me BoomBoom ANY day over this clown.

nowhere did I say Freddie could/would/should beat Tiger. This is about professionalism and maturity.

Couples ALWAYS handled himself as a professional. Tiger can't spell it.

...or at least keep the comments about Tiger's behavior to the threads dedicated to that topic. This one is supposed to be about Tiger's irons.

And for the record, albatrosser, you obviously do care. You've taken the time to reply several times in this thread. If you didn't care you'd just move along without comment.

You are correct, and I was off topic. My sincerest apologies to all.

For the record: I'm not a Tiger "hater". Not at all. If he'd get control of his head, I'd be a supporter like so many others.

Hey everybody, I really hoped this wound'nt get nasty, but it seems like anytime you bring up TW in a thread, it's bound to get heated. I just thought it would be interesting to discuss his clubs, not his behaviour. On that note it's probably time to lock this one up. Peace to all!

i'd say scottland got it right on the point

tigers clubs are nike custom blades ... they are as close to the ones you buy of the rack (or even custom fitted to you) as a nascar vehicle is to the chevvy in your garage

And why not?
Tour players are a breed apart and Tiger is waaaaaayyyy better than the vast majority of them; so it makes sense for him to play something really bespoke.
They look very pretty to me.

Why is it that people always bash Tiger as being a hothead and club thrower? There are guys on tour that really get hot and have tantrums. Tiger's not even near the top.

I wonder what irons he'll put into play in 2010?? Seems like Nike would really benefit from him getting back into the Vr iron line, since they are still inline for next season. Maybe a fully re-habbed knee and an offseason to work on them will get them back in the bag?
