Titleist NXT Tour and the GolfWRX Poll mid price balls vs... the tour guys

This strikes me as weird, but as long as I've been a member here... everyone is a "Pro V" guy, or something similar. And when the 'other' balls are mentioned, it rarely includes the NXT Tour.
So what's really weird to me is I just did the GolfWRX 2009 equipment Poll.... and guess what Ball is narrowing out the Bridgestone E series (as I write this) for most votes in its category? The Titleist NXT Tour.
Now with the amount of votes that ball is getting... let's be honest, what's better? Honestly I think the NXT Tour is just as good in every way as a Bridgestone B-330RX. And I have tried the RX several times. And I just can't find any advantage to it.
So how many of you use the NXT tour. Do you still use it? Why did you stop?
Personally I had no trouble holding greens with it, but it was great for distance.
I did shred them a bit, but for as much as they cost, I think it is a very good ball.
The TopFlite "Gamer" really surprised me too... if I wanted to go super cheap... and sure enough in its category the Gamer is a top choice there as well.
So back to the NXT... I just wondered if so many of us voted for it... why don't I see it more?
To be 100% honest, the e5+ turned out to be a -boomer- for me. I was surprised how much spin control I could get with good grooves on an E5+ (considering its distance) until I read that it actually is the only 2 piece ball with a uerethane cover!
I'm not sure what the NXT is, but it did do a bit better for me overall. Although if I recall correctly, the E5+ might have given me a hand full of more yards... maybe not though. (The test span was quite far apart).

Great distance and since I tend to hit a high shot, approaches are not a problem as they really do drop and stop, the ball mark is usually within a 2-3 ft of the ball on any approach within 75 yds. There's no bringing it back 5+ ft or anything, which is fine for me as I probably couldn't do that anyway. There's probably a big comfort factor with it for me as I know what it can/will do for me with the way I swing and play. Have I given the others a long enough evaluation to get there? Probably not, but if they were close, they'd get a longer look anyway.
Others:
- e5+, comparable distance and nice grippy surface, no real reason to stop using it, just never got comfortable with it
- 330RX, pretty spinny, a little loss of distance, didn't particularly jazz me on chips for all its purported ability
- Noodle, not really long and not really soft, more like 'blech', at least not like its advertising claims
- 50/50, felt mushy and dead, the complete opposite of the Top Flite Plus XL I used to play for $13/18 pack. (How much life was taken out of my hands by playing THOSE?)
- ProV1/x, WAY too much spin for me. I couldn't afford the extra strokes off the tee. And there was no anxiety about that dozen, they were freebies so I wasn't anticipating the loss of $4 on a bad swing. Feels great off the face and the short game is a blast, too bad I'm 2 extra strokes into the hole before getting to play it that way.
- The only other one, and I'm really liking it and have a small stockpile, is the One Tour D. Same distance and a pretty good feel. It actually plays better greenside than the NXT. I'm really wanting to like this ball, and that was before the $60/2 dz price promo.

But still for some 'so-so' comments, the ball ranked very high in the GolfWRX poll.
I find it interesting some of you say it didn't have quite the distance you hoped for.
I would agree with the e5+ comparison (which I also mentioned in the first post). Although the NXT Tour cover is different, the E5+ seemed to stop fairly well for me. It's my personal experience the entire marketing campaign of the 330-RX applies completely to the E5+
The NIKE TOUR D was very cheap for a while, so I gave it a whirl as well. I did find it to be a pretty darn good all around ball, but then I tried the NIKE TOUR and it just felt... so much nicer. Not as far though... no doubt about it.
The NXT Tour to me seems to give the best of both worlds for us 'mortal' swingers. I keep hearing the B330-S is a very good ball in this category as well.
I guess to a degree these balls have certain ball speed requirements. From my experience the NXT Tour and E5 easily help out the sub 106 MPH guys.
The RX.... I'm still in doubt on that one. Seemed to do everything 'ok' but failed to impress... I found I got more for the buck from NXT Tour and E5. And when TOUR D's went on sale.
One weird one I'll throw out there... believe it or not is the Topflite Gamer. Someone tossed me one... I admit my snobbery, I wouldn't have bought the ball. I played a back 9 with them, and was totally blown away by the 'all around' performance of it. I just don't know about the distance, but it was a contender... I wish I would have spent more time with it.
The NIKE VAPOR I couldn't get into. Not near enough spin for me. In this price range it didn't make the cut for me.
I'll look more into the B330-s, but I have a feeling that ball is meant for more ballspeed than I can provide.

The only issue with NXT Tour...at $27-$30...you can get a lot of the premium balls that are being cleared out (last year's model) for about the same price. I found the TaylorMade TP or Nike's One have a slight edge on performance especially on the green...
