What's your budget?

Honestly, I'd probably get none of those models and go bigger.

I really don't have a budget, but I don't want to spend more then 7 or $800 due to the fact I'm moving to Hawaii in four months and have other stuff I need to get. We really don't need any thing bigger than a 42 inch, being we have got by with a 32 to 36 inch the last couple of years.

agreed I would throw out your list, go to costco and buy a 52" sharp aquos! On sale now stupid cheap, 1200$. I know this because I paid alot more for mine 3 months ago.... Awesome tv though. Also I have noticed ( it could just be me) that flat panels don't look as big as what they say they are. Imo

I got a 46" Sharp Aquos 1080p, 120hz for $1000 at BestBuy in August. Great TV, not a single complaint. I love it!

$800 is plenty of cash to buy a great set.

The only reason I suggested to go bigger is because people typically wish they did, especially if you can get a bigger tv for the same price.

Dell has a pretty nice deal going on, with free shipping

$669 for a 50" Panasonic plasma is pretty good!

I just getting an itch to buy one here lately. I have out it off for 8 months. I guess 4 more wouldn't hurt. I may have to trust the wife, in picking one out. They don't have black friday deal or any thing like it over here. Thanks for all the help.

Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba & LG will be the only brands id look into. I got my Toshiba 42" for $800 last January with the after Christmas sale. NewEgg.com is another good place to look online. ALOT of stores now are doing the "black friday" deals online rather than in stores.

I have had great results with the Samsungs. Currently have a 52" (family room), 42" (bedroom), 32" (son's bedroom), & 20 something inch (kitchen), all LCDs. The first one was good enough for me to continue with them in the other areas. I agree, that if at all possible you go up to 50-52". They are never big enough. Once you take them off the stand and hang them on the wall they just seem smaller!

Only get LCD if you will it use for computers/game.

Plasma for TV watching - plasma is still far superior to all LCD's, except the topmodels from Samsung and Sony (and they cost $$$$)

A $750 Panasonic Plasma will have far better picture quality than a $1.000 LCD.

Burn in on Plasmas is a thing of the past - get a Panasonic or Pioneer Plasma anmd forget about LCD.

Just my honest 2 cents :)

I dunno... I think there are huge advantages to a good LED LCD.

I have a 46Z4100 I would put up against almost any plasma but a Kuro.

What are the advantages - if you don't intend to use the Flatscreen for Computing ?

Plasma has FAR better REAL contrast, better at viewing sports, larger viewing angle and just overall is a better technology than LCD will ever be.
I agree that Sony's new topmodel LCD and probably some of the LED, that will come out in the next couple of years will be able to compete with plasma, but they will cost 3 times what a plasma costs and most likely not even perform better.

Most people buy LCD because the "guy at the TV store" says it's better, because the tv stores have larger revenues from selling the usually smaller sized LCD's and also because the LCD's look brighter in the TV store, which many thinks indicates a better overall TV - which is NOT the case at all.

'Burn in' is a thing of the past in plasmas, so this old argument doesn't stand either.

the LED tv's are not all that unless your watching 100% HD channels. regular channels on an LED tv just plain sucks. my GF's parents have one at their house, its the new samsung 54" led tv and its not all that. my 42" LCD tv looks better showing regular (non-HD) channels. she has no intentions in getting HD from her cable company and pretty much a waste of money.

Well all this talk about go bigger got me looking. Being that Black Friday is coming up; I'm think of getting a 52" Sony Bravia LCD 1080p/120Hz with a Blue Ray disk player for $1299 tax free. Is that a deal. I've seached the model and cann't find it any where. Its a KDL52V1000.

Plasma - choose whatever size your price point puts you at. You will not be disappointed.

If you're getting a 1080p TV, you really want a refresh rate of 120hz or more. It's kind of silly, IMO, to get a 60 hz, as you're not getting tru motion with it. Another thing to consider is if you're watching BluRay movies or what your primary reason for getting a 1080p TV. If you're not going to be watching BluRay, you'll be fine with a 720p TV, as no cable company out there broadcasts in 1080p yet. 1080i, yes, but it's essentially the same thing as 720p due to teh manner in which it's displayed.
