Last year we played our sectional golf meet at a local golf course, and the last person to be accepted into the state golf tournemant shot a 76.. Im just kind of wondering how other states compare to this score for their own state tourney??

I played in the top sectional in Illinois and the high score individually was 75. The two team scores were both sub 300

My freshman year it was 76 in pouring rain and cold. Since then, it's gotten worse and it was 83 got you in a playoff for the final spot. (Colorado)

so it seems like each state is pretty close as far as state qualifying.. Last season even par won the state tourney. This was also on a fairly long course

I went to districts and at regionals 70 (-2 made it.) Anything higher was no good. This was not an easy course. 6800 greens were rolling at a 13

you guys are lucky for highschool golf in other states. New jersey is the worst. We play in the spring and the weather is usually terrible. We have 9 hole matches after school. In order to qualify for states as an individual, you need to have 5 scores under 40. At states, usually 80 or so qualifies, 5 individuals qualify for the Tournament of Champions. The top 2 teams in every division and top 5 in every division qualify for TOC. The states and the Tournament of Champions are both 18 holes, on so so courses and its a minimum six hour round. Usually in pretty crappy weather. Par is a great score.

man, I really thought scores were going down as opposed to up.

When I was playing high school golf in GA, I was in the highest classification (AAAA back then), and you had to win Region outright to go to state (or be a member of the winning or second place team). No other exceptions. I shot 73 two years in a row and never got to state. Lost to the number one junior in the nation one year and by a stroke to the last guy on the golf course the next.

This was in 1998 and 1999.

Our state tournament 8 under won it. The course was 7200 yards with super tough greens. I played great and only finished fourth with 1 under for two days.

haha yeah, i failed to mention that i only play in a single A school. Im sure that you guys playing in larger schools, your golf scores will be much lower than ours.. but hey its all about the fun right?

Comparing scores really isnt worth much in my opinion, there are so many variables that come into play that you can't really compare. Ive recruited players on my college team that have made it to states in one state and have missed it in another and the guy who missed it was alot better than the guy who made it.....you just have to play as good as you can play and see how it works out.

75 was the score to make it out as an individual in mine from IL. both the state champs in team and individual and 2nd place team came from my sectional. team scores were under 300 for making it to state
