For those who used them--how soft are they off irons and wedges? Also, how clicky or soft were they off a non-insert putter? I'm thinking about picking some up but if they are as clicky off a putter as the Callaway Tour HX and ix I won't bother. I have found the last three years of Callaway tour caliber balls to very clicky with relatively low spin for a urethane ball.

Actually I think they are exactly the same as the HX and IX as far as feel is concerned. I seem to remember cutting open a Tour Deep and a and one of the Tour X balls and they were exactly the same with the exception of the HEX dimple pattern. If you are looking at the RockBottom deal I would jump on it in a heartbeat but I have no love for urethane golf balls as I just don't seem to benefit based on how I hit the ball.

That's exactly what I'm looking at (Rockbottom). Like you, I've also heard that the Tour Deep became the Tour HX with hex dimples. I think I'll probably pull the trigger anyway since it is not often you can get a top quality urethane ball for $13 a dozen. (Plus I love the Hogan script and still play some Hogan products).

I have started taking one ball from those I purchase and use a pvc pipe cutter to slice the ball open. When I looked at the tourdeep and the callaway tour they to me were the same ball except the dimples as you mentioned. It is surprising what you will find. If I am not mistaken the Gamer and HX Bite were the same ball with different dimple patterns.

That is a nice golfball - for a buck per ball I don't think you will be dissapointed. It was the prototype for the HX Tour 56 sans the Hx dimples. I played it a couple of years ago and liked it.

I used to play that ball exclusively. I don't think it is quite as firm as the current Cally offerings, but it sure isn't far off from it. Definitely tough to beat at that price.

Well I went ahead and bought 3 dozen Hogan's from rockbottom. With a 10% off coupon the total was $42 or $14 per dozen including shipping. Not a bad deal to pay Top-Flite prices for a tour level ball.

When they arrive, I'll report back how soft they are.

Balls came yesterday. They are clicky like a Callaway tour ix but not as bad as the HX Tour. For $14 a dozen shipped I can't complain but I'm not going to buy more than the three dozen I have.

They play softer than they feel off the putter face IMO. There is a definite click.

I've played them for years off and on. I just played 36 holes with one ball last week. They are durable beyond anything I've ever played.

Played a round with them today. Decent off the tee, ok off my irons but still a little stiff around and on the greens. Pretty much my opinion of the Callaway tour ix.

It won't replace my ProV1's but its not a bad ball either.
