Apologies if this does not help you at all!
I did recently hand over a MacGregor MT wood to a pro at my local club (in the UK). He is 70 and knows how to do all things persimmon. However he discovered that the steel shaft size is smaller than the current shaft sizes (both steel and graphite) - since then he has been desperately trying to find a shaft which will fit. My advice is take your persimmon to a specialist if possible. If you have the right replacement shaft in your possession you could try getting a copy of 'Golf Club Repair in Pictures' by Ralph Maltby (first pub: 1978) - this is a pictorial step by step guide for all aspects of persimmon and iron maintence from the 70's-80's. However to do the job yourself would require some specialist equipment.
Best of luck!
