Just wondering if anyone else has played this course. It's my home course and only about 5 minutes away from me. Not anywhere near the longest track at only 5785 yards, the course is still challenging. I personally love the course and the value ($25 to walk 18 any weekday before noon) is tough to beat. Just wondering why even locals around here don't talk about the course.

I ued to play the skunk all the time when I was going to UConn and the price fits the college student budget perfectly. Now that said when I was on college I thought the place was a dump, but now that I have not played it in a while I miss it. You are right, it is not long at all but still challenging.
I remember the first time I played #7, I hit my tee shot over to the right, so I was going to lay up...obviously I had no idea there was a random pond in the middle of the fairway...splash!
Looking back the only changes I would make would be...
#4 needs to be a par 4 not a par 5, im not long and it was driver 9 iron.
#15 needs to be completely changed, the top landing area needs to be leveled out better atleast, there i no safe play on that hole, the safest play is grip and rip a driver...because atleast if that goes into the water you are hitting 3 next to the green instead of laying up and getting screwed...i hate that hole, I am all for challenging, but that hole is 98% luck...or rather 98% lack of luck.
But that is about it...
#6 is a great hole coming back to the club house, #9 is great as well, my favorite stretch is 12, 13 and 14 though, I just wish the 14 tee was closer to the 13th green. 16 is another tough, fun, short hole.
If i ever make it back to the Storrs area I will def hit up the Skunk and Twin Hills, the old college stomping grounds
I think the Skunk doesnt get any talk because Twin Hills is not that much more (atleast it wasnt when I lived there) and was a much better course hole for hole, longer, better condition, better greens, better layout, decent amount of challenge without the few odd holes (ie #15), plus there are just so many good public course in CT, I live in Arkansas now, and the private courses are great, but the decent public golf courses are few and far between (slightly better in NW AR than the rest of the state), I was really spoiled growing up in CT.

I spent a summer playing baseball in the area and a lot of the guys on the team got placed there for work, so we played it quite a bit for free so the price was always right.
That being said the one time I did pay to play was a saturday with my dad and it took us over 5 hours to play 13 holes. We finally left so that we could pick my mom up in the clubhouse because they wouldn't allow her to ride along (even if we paid). So it left a sour taste in my mouth.
I do remember hitting about a 75ft putt one handed with a beer in the other and a cigar in my mouth for an 8, at that course though.

I spent 10 years in the area (Hebron) and played the skunk a couple of times. There's just so many better courses in the area, its not worth paying attention to.
It doesn't compare to Blackledge, Tallwood, Topstone, Rockledge, the Portland courses, etc.
On a 1-10 scale, I think its about a 4
