I played golf today for a friends bachelor party and i've got to say I truly love the game of golf but the pain that I have every time I play is becoming unbearable.I had spinal fusion on my low back,I have a herniated disc in my neck and through an MRI I learned that I have a partially torn rotator cuff but I also have a couple of non cancerous tumors in my shoulder.Today was the first day golfing that everything was so bad that I couldn't finish my round.
Has anyone else had so much pain they didn't think it was worth playing anymore.I don't know maybe I'm overreacting but my rounds are getting harder and harder to finish

Yes, almost every round. I wrecked a motorcycle 20 years ago and have walked with a limp most every day since the original knee reconstruction. I've even had two more surgeries since then to clean up the joint hoping to feel better. My left knee hurts all the time and it gets really old fighting through it to play a game. Just ask my playing partners how much I complain about it.
I have tried resting it and I have tried regular workouts to strengthen my body. I have tried every knee brace known to man. I have taken or not taken every OTC pain killer in every combination and quantity. I have lost weight. I walk the course, I ride the course, I carry my bag, I use a push cart. It all works out the same.
Before last weekend's round, I didn't finish the previous 4 or 5 due to the pain. Just walked in every time. But you know what? Last weekend, completely out of the blue, I had a great day where the golf gods let me play a full round. And as luck would have it, I played well and shot even par. I just played well within myself. I had to.
Moral of the story, if you love the game keep at it because you never know what is around the next bend in the road.

Whenever someone comes into the shop with a similar story I always say the same thing. Golf is fun, but its not worth not walking for the rest of your life. Take some time off, maybe 6 months, and maybe only play 9 holes when you go out.
That or find a new hobby that you enjoy just as much as golf.
