I'll be moving to Oklahoma City for approximately 3 months starting in December. Will I have any chance to golf or are Oklahoma winters pretty inhospitable? Thanks for your input or any advice!

I am able to play through the winter in Colorado. I get out at least once or twice each month. You just have to pick the best days, dress warmer and go play. Grass is brown but what the heck, beats sitting on the couch...

I am originally from Norman but have lived in Broken Arrow (Tulsa area) for about 2.5 years. Some of the best months for golf in Oklahoma are October and November. I last played on Dec. 20th and since then it has been too cold. I am good to go if it is at least 40 with sunshine. Typically January and February are the worst months for golf in Oklahoma but you might get a few nice days in the 50s with some sun. If you are in Oklahoma City then Winter Creek, Rose Creek and Lincoln Park West are good courses. If you know someone who can get you on to The Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club then you are lucky. Oak Tree in Edmond and Gaillardia are both swanky private clubs. Oak Tree has hosted the PGA Championship in 1989 and will host a Champions Event in the next couple of years. A great course and value is Jimmie Austin, home of The University of Oklahoma in Norman. It is about $75 for a non-student or Alumni. Karsten Creek near Stillwater is supposed to be amazing but at $350 a round it better be. Karsten Creek is home to The OSU golf team. Enjoy Oklahoma, it is a golf friendly state and prices for almost anything are very reasonable. Sorry you had to come during one of the worst winters I can remember. I am always up for meeting new golfers to play a round and I come to Norman every now and then. We also have some wonderful courses in Tulsa.
