:welcomeani:

browsing in a local sporting store as usual, talked to a very knowledgeable salesperson about rangefinders. He told me a lot of golfers buys the Game rangefinders to use it on the course. What is the difference? is it just the color and decal???

any advise would be appreciated.

Usually the "game" lasers have the option to switch between First Target Priority Mode and Distance Priority Mode. The "golf" lasers seem to always be in FTPM...allowing you to target the flag w/o hitting backround trees, bushes, etc. The Distance PM allows you to target game that may be well beyond trees, bushes, etc. w/o the unit getting confused. I have the Callaway version (LR1200) and FTPM is all you need on a golf course.

I read somewhere while researching, and I think it was on this site, that Leupold makes the GX models slightly different than the RX model. The poster said that they spoke with Luepold and the GX models are made to pick up smaller targets so it would work on a Flagstick. I am not sure about Bushnell or Nikkon, but evidently the Luepold i s different. I love my Luepold by the way.

I have the Bushnell Scout 1000, a hunting version, works great for me, seems to be exactly like the V2 pinseeker, other than the terminology used as far as I can tell. I got it for about $180 after rebate last summer.

Only problem I have is picking up flags when I get to over 200 yards. But my hand is not real steady with it, if I can hold it against something I have better luck. But once I'm getting that far away, the exact yardage is not as important to me. But I can easily pick up tree trunks from 300+ yards away.

It's pretty sturdy too, I've droped it twice out of a moving cart onto the cart path, hasn't impacted it in any way. Battery life seems pretty decent also, I just put my third battery in it a couple of weeks ago.

I have the nikon monarch lr800. The only difference I noticed is the color and that the hunting model goes to half yards. Other than that, exactly the same but cheaper.
