Hi all,

I'm headed to NoCal in early January. Are there any warm places to play golf between San Francisco and Sacramento? I'm watching Harding Park on TV and it looks pretty cold!

Thanks!

Warm? Not really...

Especially cold? Not really either...

I can't imagine it would be any warmer than 60 degrees anywhere you're looking, but it really shouldn't be especially cold, unless you're going to play an early morning round.

Sometimes in January you'll find warmer temps on the coast than inland. But really its pretty consistent everywhere. Doesn't match Palm Springs, but beats just about everywhere else in January. Have fun in NorCal.

don't worry about cold, it's rare to find temps below the mid 50's even in winter

Just have some flexibility in your planning to handle frost delays

I've lived here all my life, good advice above. There is no warm here in January and we have no idea what cold really is. Expect daytime highs in the mid 50s no matter where you go. Right on about the coast being a little warmer, especially the over night temps. You are more likely to get frost delays inland. Rain and sloppy conditions are what you have to watch for, some course drain better than others. Yes, it was nippy at the President's Cup!

Good replies from everyone above. I was going to say frost delays will be your biggest concern.

If it has been raining check out Metropolitan Golf Links in Oakland. It's right next to the airport. It will be windy in the afternoon but that course drains absolutely amazingly. It could pour the day before and will be perfectly playable by the next morning.
