Past Players: Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, and Gene Littler
Present Seniors: Tom Watson and Fred Funk
Present PGA Tour Players: Fred Couples and Tiger Woods
Amateur: My son!
Payne Stewart (RIP)
Greg Norman
Phil Mickelson
Fred Couples
Nick Faldo
Gary Player
Tom Watson
Least:
Colin Montgomery
I've met all of those in person except for Watson, Mickelson and Stewart; even attended golf clinics by Faldo and Player. I have to say that Faldo, Couples, and Player are actually some of the nicest guys to approach from a fan's perspective.
Herman Keiser (Because he made it possible for me to meet so many great players from the past)
I should add Gary Player. He was the most gracious and willing to speak, about what he was working on during a warmup/practice session, prior to a charity match with Sam Snead. @ 1960.

i caddy'd for watson years ago in a pro-am.....i mean lots of years ago....i was a teenager. I then reconnected with him in the past couple o'years because he designed the course i work at and stops by every once in awhile. total class act. probably one of the greatest ball strikers ever. the clubs may have changed (hybrids) but the result is sickeningly good.

OK, he's on the list. I remember that story. Maybe we should add Payne. (Toski?? )

Wow, how can I leave out Toski! There isn't a pro, I have spent more time listening and laughing with.....other than you! I might have to put you on the list! LOL.

You'll always be on my list bro!!
Must be my ability to, out of nowhere, hit a 300 yard shank! You were impressed! Thank you, I don't do that anymore!

I was always impressed with the 2 fairways to the right tee shot. Not that easy to do.
What I enjoy about watching pro golf on TV has more to do with how pros behave and play leading up to the cut, and then how they finish coming down 18 on Sunday.

These guys are all good! I like to see a little fire, but controlled. The only one on my list, that loses it, is Tiger. I don't like it, but the man is possibly the best ever.
others - mahan, hal sutton is also an a$$hole, boo,
also becoming to dislike casey a little :/
there is no way he is the 4th best player in the world, its a crime, i wouldnt put him in the top 20, never does anything in the majors
Which other players would you put ahead of casey in the world top 20? INteresting stance on mahan and sutton as well as justin leonard. Wasn't leonard once voted the USA's most eligible batchelor at one stage? Now taking your line of "i wouldnt put casey in the top 20" might make more sense than the eligibility of leonard being the most eligible batchelor in the usa!
My favorites are Fred Couples. Always loved his swing. Really like Tiger but his on course antics are starting to wear on me. Personality wise and least from interviews I have seen or read Anthony Kim and Boo Weekly really crack me up.
Bobby Jones-historical
Jack-watching him is watching greatness
Watson-2009 Open is my biggest disappointment in sports history, next to losing my 8th grade Basketball championship game by one point. local hero for me as well.
Payne Stewart-loved his game and tempo not to mention style.
Phil-my favorite today.
Tiger-see Jack
Seve-If I could have anyones short game......
I typically don't like to root against golfers, but there is this guy named Sergio......
Paddy is my #1. His candor, tenacity, and toughness all scream, "Champion Golfer". He's so easy to root for!
Tiger and Phil are the biggest for a reason...they're ridiculously talented and fun to watch making magic happen.
I like a winner (and a peer of mine, age-wise) like Justin Leonard too, because for me, he seems to play golf the way it was intended and the way the old-timers would appreciate. Hit it straight, hit it pure, make putts. Win majors. Stay classy.
Brian Smock finished #40 on the Nationwide tour, great guy and will play golf with me. Next year will win an event and finish in the top 25 and get his card.
