Interesting that other instructors are now seeing the merits in what Geoff has been advocating. They're starting to promote it in their own teaching as an important part of building a solid swing foundation.

9 to 3 swing drills have been around for quite awhile...

There are all sorts of variations and focuses...

Slice teaches a full hinge at 9 and a pivot release with his drill...

Others will have similar focuses or different focuses...

Even though 9-3 drills have been around, this one is not really the same as slicefixer's. It is a much shorter swing...club going from 9-3 rather than the arms.

I take that back...by the end of the video he does hinge the wrists and go to arms at 9 o'clock in back swing.

John Novosel (of "Tour Tempo" fame) uses the "Y-drill", which is very similar to this as well. The "Y-drill", along with the "L-drill" (bringing hand action into it), are his only real building blocks for swing mechanics that should be used in conjunction with tempo development.
