Ok to most of you this doesnt seem like a big deal, but for me its huge. I have been playing golf now regularly for about two years, started then shooting about 115, then low 100s, then this past year started shooting 96 to 100 in March. Back in Augsut I hit 92 for the first time, then for 3 weeks palying 6 times in that 3 weeks i hit 90 6 straight rounds. Breaking 90 seemed impossible. Yesterday though I broke thru. I wasnt even in the fairway most of the day but was playing good golf (once again for me). After the 17th hole I knew if I bogied 18 I had it, well I shot an 8. I shot a quad bogey on 18, went to the card added it up and "Holly $hit I shot an 89" i said really loud. Anyway Maybe this is what I need to start breaking into the 80's on a more regular basis, but I did it. It finally happened, after shooting 90 6 straight rounds then regualry shooting 92 to 94 after that, I felt like i couldnt break thru that 90 mark. FINALLY I can say I shot in the 80's once! Shaved 10 strokes since March, hopefully I can start playing in the upper 80s and stay there. If i could get the driver working and hitting fairways I may have a shot.

Sincere congratulations.

Here's a question for you: Now that you've done it, during the next several rounds do you make minor changes in an effort to improve, or do you keep doing exactly that which has made you successful?

Congrats dude. I remember when I broke 90. I told everybody within earshot about it. Keep playing and before you know it you'll be breaking 80!

4 times I went to the 18th hole and I needed a bogey or a par to break 80 and I couldnt do it.The first time that I did it, I didnt know my score and then I was told after the round.
Also my best round was a 74 at a par 72. I started out double, double, bogey, bogey.
Again, since I had no idea after that horrible start, I stopped looking at the score card
and didnt do any " If I..........".
Hopefully this is a sign of good stuff coming your way. I know its tough, but try not to pay attention to your score card

congrats man must feel good. I honestly stopped tallying my 9 hole scores during the round as I just usually dont want to know. I have found my best rounds (81 a few times) are the ones where I play the course hole by hole and dont get into the, "if i make a par here is shoot...." mentality.

:clapping: :drinks: Congrats, I did it 2 years ago with an 86. Still shooting in the low 90's, but put together an 89 last month. Keep working away and you'll get it down to low 80's in no time.

Great Job!! Breaking through those barriers is a great feeling. I had a major accomplishment yesterday as well, as an 18 course and 15.3 index, i put it all together and after the last few rounds in the upper 80's, I finally went low and carded an 83, low round record for me by two strokes. And two weeks ago i was so lost i was having a tough time keeping it in double digits. Sometimes it just clicks. Enjoy the ride!!

What do you attribute the better play to? More practice, play, lessons?

Congrats

Ignore the scorecard while playing! This is key for me, just think about the shot you are making (in context of the hole). My best scores have always come when I don't add up my score while playing.

Big time congratz to you man! I recently had this happen to me; I shot like Tiger and got an 86. Now I shoot low 90s consistently. I honestly believe that breaking in the the X0s is alot mental. I have now changed the way I take score, and do not add it up until Im done. Its hard to do, but it takes the pressure off. Big time congratz again!! :clapping: :partytime2: :clapping: :partytime2: :clapping:

nice job!!
i remember first breaking 80 and i rejoiced!!

just picture that number everytime you go out to play as a little extra motivation to beat it!

im currently trying to beat my best of 74 (+5) i had a great chance on monday after being level for the first 9 but then blew it on the back 9 finishing +12!!

Umm thats a good question, I never had a real lesson but a friend of mine that has had a lesson helped me alot. I use to exagerate my hands in front of the ball alot. Like hitting an 8 rion I would address the ball at my instep like a driver and have my hands forward of that. I was shooting around 95 to 100 then, well my buddy changed that up to a more convential address, hands down by the belt buckle, address the ball in the middle of my stance and I hated it. Couldnt hit hte ball to save my life, well the next time at the range i tried it again and it clicked then was striking the ball well. Next round i played was a 91. Highest ever since then been striking my irons well. And short game practice i spent a few hours this summer working on my chipping and shots within 40 yards and that was big for me as well.
