Not sure if this is the best way about going about things but oh well here it goes, typically speaking my stroke average is about 5 shots better than a regular golf round so instead of averaging 80 I will average around 75 for tournament rounds but I still cant lose that one stroke to go under par, simply asking could my non-tournament play in the long run be affecting my overall tournament score in the sense of the "internal thermometer" in relation of score to par?

You play better in tournaments then in practice rounds? What's to worry about then, that's great?

^^^^^ i'm the same way. i'll shoot 7/10 rounds in the 80's in practice, and maybe 2/10 in tournaments.

practice all your shots and all your clubs (i mean all mid-short irons) from <100yds. Lowered my HI by like 7ish when i started practicing these shots. I also almost always break 80's in tourneys now. I think that also, if you can go and have pick up competitions at your course (skins, putting, etc) then those also helped me out alot. i makes you be able to stand up under pressure more...

Okay so here are my last 10 tournament round's and just regular practice rounds respectively
Tournament:
74, 77, 76, 72, 73, 79 (With a 9 on a hole), 73, 75, 76, & 76
Regular Practice Round:
79, 82, 73, 80, 75, 83, 76, 81, 82, & 77.
So my past 10 tournament scores I had an average score of 75.1 while my practice round score was 78.8 but as you can see I still cant lose that extra stroke to go under par, the closest I have been able to do is a 33 on the back after a front nine 42 for a 75, still trying to figure out the way to go to the next level.
