Sandra Gal is leading the field after day one at -7. If I'm not mistaken, she led another recent tourney after day one also.
One of my favorites, Kim Welch is also playing well and is at -4. Started the day with an eagle on the par 4 number one. Anyone get to see this?
Wouldn't it be ironic if one of these two young ladies won the P & G Beauty?
Nice pics, even if Sandra Gal is a Gator.
And you're right, I think Sandra led at least one previous event after round one this year, perhaps two.
Anna Rawson led a recent event after the first round.
The LPGA hasn't had problems at the beginning of events. It's the final outcome they generally haven't gotten lucky, in terms of marketing potential.
I just looked at Kim Welch's card. She got it to -5 with two holes remaining then suffered her only bogey on the par 3 #17.
The tee times are very strange tomorrow. Instead of maintaining the same group as the first round, or bunching all the leaders in the final pairings, it is split in half. There is an early wave and late wave on each tee, #1 and #10. The players have been repaired by score but some groups with similar scores start hours later than other groups.
Kim is paired with Vicky Hurst, in the early block. Both long hitters, and I think they were friends last year on the Futures Tour. That group should get some air time on Golf Channel since they'll be about 3 hours into their round when Golf Channel begins coverage, 1-4 Eastern. This event is in the Central time zone.
Michelle Wie is -2, and will play in the late block. She'll no doubt receive plenty of coverage but will only be halfway through her round when Golf Channel signs off.
The commentators today emphasized the weather forecast was poor for the weekend, with a chance of a rain shortened 36 hole event.

Nice undies Sandra. Was Kim on one of the GC shows? Maybe, this is a separate thread. I haven't notice Lorena dominating anymore? What's up w/ her?
Massive collapse by Kim Welch. She was -5 on the 9th tee. Now +3 heading to 18. Triple bogey on #16 when all she needed was +1 over the final 3 holes to make the cut. That followed a stretch of double bogey, bogey, bogey on 11-13.
Kim ended up being +7 for the day. I'm starting to think I'm jinxing her. Looks like she'll miss the cut. Reminds me of how she played in the Navistar last year.

Yeah, I'm not sure Sandra Gal or Kim Welch needed this thread, the way they played today.
+12 combined today, after -11 combined yesterday.
Very good point about last year's Navistar. I thought of that also. Kim shot 70 in that first round then midway through round two she found a 10 on one hole, causing her to miss the cut by 2 shots. Today she was cruising at -4 on the 11th hole. They had some early Golf Channel coverage and Kim's group was on that 11th tee. Her playing partner hit first but you could see Kim in the background. Beth Daniel said it was a tricky hole given today's pin placement, front right. Anything short could drift back into the water. I'm not sure if that's what happened to Kim but she ended up with a double bogey 5.
I was primarily watching college football. I'm not sure how much the Golf Channel coverage showed of Kim, but you could tell the announcers were disappointed in her effort today. It was a logical bridge to hype the forthcoming Big Break Disney if Kim had made the cut. At one point they did show Kim hit a few shots, stuck a graphic of her 2009 Duramed and LPGA results on the screen, and then ran a commercial for Big Break.
They showed Kim miss about a 12 foot birdie putt on #17, wide left by a foot and a half. On the par 5 #18 she hit a weak chip from the right rough, 30 feet short. Her putt was well paced but never had a chance to drop.
Her putting is still the regulator, 64 over two rounds putts not going to cut it on this level. She hit plenty of fairways (22) and greens (28).
Kim looked deflated on #18, understandable after playing the previous 9 holes in +8. I'm not sure she realized a birdie might make the cut. The way it looks now, she will miss the cut by 1 shot since the late wave is having trouble and the cut is up to +2.
I am trying to think of a lady TGC BB player that has really demonstrated that TV series feeds players worthy of a ""BB". Sorry, but with the LPGA already being a barely also ran, serious contenders are needed NOW.
Biggest question:
What ever happened to the Big Four Americans (Creamer, Pressel, Gulbis, Wie) that were supposed to own this tour?
None of the Big Four Americans really ever threatens for more than a round here and there. Gulbis, not at all; a complete one-time winner.
Last two seasons have been a living lab proving the value of the Asian work ethic vis-a-vis major-league golf.
