Most of you are probably to young to remember him but Roy Clark could get with it.  He was also on Hee Haw for quite some time.

HEEEE.....HAAWWWW. I watched it.  I also watched one of the greatest performances of Malaguena played by Mr. Clark.

Deffinately a hack in technical terms compared to Page, Emanuel and many others , but for shear unique, emotion and a sound [explosion] like none other is Neil Young on electric with Crazy Hourse...

James Patrick Page -

…with honorable heartfelt mention to Hillel Slovak - while not the most technically proficient, but threw down a hendrix style with a more garage feel.  I was lucky enough to catch him once before he died with less than 200 people in the audience.

Gilmour is my favorite. Prince is a close second. Prince is the Hendrix of this generation.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I hope this wasn't the first time someone mentioned Prince.  His guitar playing is so underappreciated IMO.

Someone mentioned Joe Bonamassa.  I've seen him live and he is a great player.  I would really like to see Tommy Emanuel.

Saw him live at variety playhouse here in atlanta on saturday night. Great show for the tech guitar guys. He also played a few songs with a 12 year old kid (joshua King) on harmonica and he sung it was great. Sang georgia on my mind and a few blues songs it brought the house down!

For sure, Derek Trucks playing his guitar is a sight to see now however.

Seems to be a lot of guitar nerds on wrx. Anybody fancy posting a video of themselves playing? Show off some skills?

This was  my band. I was the lead guitarist.

I've always liked Eric Clapton, but in October of 1969, I was fortunate enough to be 8 rows back at a Led Zeppelin concert in Buffalo,so Jimmy Page has always been at the top of my list.

Alvin Lee may not have been #1 but you gotta give him credit too. Sorry for his passing away this week unexpectedly, cool ditty at Woodstock with I'm Going Home if you've never seen it.
