Played them both this past week. First off, the customer service at this place is 2nd to none. Played the Norman course on Monday. Consistently, the disctances from the tees to the "hazards" was off. Not sure why, but most holes played far shorter than advertised. Course was enjoyable, but too many holes wnadering through people's backyards. In my opinion, this detracts from any course.
Played the Fazio course on Friday. Enjoyed this course much more, but was dismayed by the lack of versaility in the par 4's. 5 par 4's in the 360 range. WHY????? In many instances, there was room to move the greens so there were some differences. A bit monotonous. I prefer a combination of short, medium, and long par 4's to allow a person to hit a variety of irons to the greens. I played the black tees because I have a 7 handicap and that's what was recommended, but this course like the Norman seems to play a lot shorter than the scorecard indicates.
I'd also find the slope ratings for these courses hard to believe. My home course has a 131 rating and is much, much harder. A lot longer, much higher rough, and challenging bunkering and rough around the greens.
Like I said, I enjoyed the rounds, but was disappointed by the lack of variety in shots to play. Much preferred Fazio's Del Mar course outside of San Diego, and Norman's course in Niagara Falls.
Would I play them again - yes. Do I think I need to have my A-game to have a good day - no way.
