Hmm. I would have to say 4. LA Country Club 3. Bighorn 2. Butler National 1. Cypress.
Oh, and to answer the OP question about playing courses really hard to get on to, Cypress would probably fall into that category (although LACC, Bighorn, and Butler all have pretty exclusive memberships). The Cypress member i know is also a member at Augusta (which i'm guessing is pretty common for those two courses), but the big difference between Cypress and Augusta is that at Cypress, you don't have to play with the member, at Augusta you do (at least that's what i've heard). I'm not going to ask this guy to fly across the country so i can play Augusta with him. At least not yet i'm not...
Hmmm...for me it would be Tehama CC, Clint Eastwoods private course. Clint's building a 28,000 square foot bungalow on one of the mountain tops overlooking his domain. On a clear day you can see Monteray and the ocean. Truly a gorgeous peice of property, great course as well. One of my best days ever Pebble Beach in the morning, then lunch on the veranda at Tehama followed by a round of golf, then a great dinner at the Sardine Factory at Monteray. Doesn't get much better, unless you can get on Cypress Point, which one of my playing partners and friends did the year before.

Congressional County Club
I've always wanted to play congressional.
It was very special indeed. A lobbyist contact of mine took me and my boss out there several years ago. It's neat to watch the Pro's play it now and see where you're supposed to hit it. However, I saw parts of the course that they NEVER did
Castle Pines, dont know if it's that hard to get onto, but I did walk in front of John Elway in the locker room while he was watching the US Open. So that was pretty cool
I don't know about exclusivity, but Austin Golf Club (Ben Crenshaw's course) is not publicized and from what I understand the membership is fairly exclusive. I got to play there and it was an experience I won't forget. There isn't even a sign outside the property, just a green gate that looks like your driving into a ranch. You wouldn't know there's a golf course there unless someone told you.
Wuskowhan Players Club in Holland MI and Kingsley Club near Traverse City MI... not going to measure up the big names being listed, but here in Mich it's a fairly tough ticket to get on. I played there in a Monday pro-am a few years back.
The Blessings in Fayetteville Arkansas for me as well. It was neat to go through where the razorbacks practice and their indoor facility. Plus the course was amazing........ly hard.
Rich Harvest Sugar Grove, IL where the Solheim Cup is currently going on. When I played there a few years ago it had 35 members and cost $35,000 fee each and every year. My friend recently said the actual cost to him with the food/drinks for him and his guests was about $50,000/yr (and that is based on almost 6 months play). The conditions were the ultimate with the lack of traffic they have. Th last time there on a weekday they came out to the hole we were on and took our ordr for food and came back two holes later with it. We sat on the hole and ate with no concerns about delaying anyone. Jerry Rich also has a out-of-the-world car museum which any one can tour after the round
Next on the list would be Chicago CC in Wheaton, IL. It looks like Ireland and also has very low traffic.
