My Grom is finally starting to give up the ghost, so i was starting to look at new stand bags, anyone have any experience with the MPB, more specifically the putter tube... not really sure about putting my scotty out ther in the open to get bumped around or whatever... if this isnt the bag i might just go back for another Grom....

I really liked the idea behind the MPB, went out and bought it, but eventually exchanged it. Things I didn't like:

(1) Because the putter well runs across the spine, they had to do away with the trunk handle. You don't realize how much you use this handle until it's taken away from you. Also, the tube takes up space in the two front pockets where you normally put your balls rendering one of them practically useless.

(2) The cooler pocket is pretty small. I couldn't fit my Tiger-ade in it.

(3) As with any Sun Mountain or Sun-Mountain-manufactured stand bag (e.g. Titleist stand bags), the flange that activates the legs sticks out too much. It becomes an issue when securing the bag on a riding cart. You have to secure the bag sideways (or at the very least 45 degrees). Not an issue on a clicgear though.

(4) A little on the heavy side (6.5 pounds)

In the end, I exchanged the MPB for its smaller cousin, the Sun Mountain Four 5. It also has the 14-way top like the MPB, but is two pounds lighter. However, it doesn't have the separate putter well and it also doesn't have an insulated cooler. Keep in mind that it also shares the same issue (3) above. But overall, it is a fantastic bag. Very lightweight and the 14-way top is excellent.

If you're interested in the 14-way top, another bag to consider is the Nike Sasquatch Tour. However, the only stand bag with a 14-way top AND a separate putter well is the MPB.

I currently use the MPB. I agree with mac2lad above that it has some features that are annoying. The lack of a trunk handle, stand flange sticking out too far on carts, and the putter tube taking up a portion of one of the pockets all are not very good characteristics. However, I think the the postives (14 way divider, stand, putter tube, medium size compared to cart bags) outweigh the negatives. You might just need to adapt a bit. I use the cooler pocket for my tees and don't really have an issue with space in the rest of my bag - plenty of room. Hope this helps in your decision making.

+1 with what mac2lad said.

I was trying to decide between the MPB and the Four-5. I liked the idea of the putter well but when carrying the MPB, that putter well would bang into my back. The MPB is much better made in my opinion. Better material, zippers and stitching.
The Four-5 idea was to keep the weight down so they used lighter material.

I bought the Four-5 and again, agree totally with all the comments mac2lad said.
