Cobra has released an image and says they are shipping on 9/1. Surprised there isn't anything more yet. Would like to think they are a revamped SS Forged (SS > S2), which are still the best irons I've ever played.
Saw the brochure pages at my club pro this afternoon. I'm not sure if I'll like the lofts of the new S2 forged irons. PW is at 43* and 9 iron is at 39*.
I'm hoping it's a typo and will check on it tomorrow.
These irons should be an absolutely huge hit with Cobra and non Cobra fans alike.
They are a tiny bit bigger than the original Forged CB's deeper cavity, wider sole
but still a very compact head. Sets up about the same as AP-2's.
Nippon 1030 steel shaft is stock offering.
This is a very sweet looking set of irons.
If the wedge is that strong what's the 3 iron, 18*?
I think it's either 18 or 19* for 3 iron. Gap Wedge is 49*. Lofts looks same as the S2 cast version so the lofts on the forged S2 could have been a mistake on Cobra's part when they printed those pages for the club pros. I will have my club pro double check with his Acushnet rep. I'll take a pic of it sometime later today.
I would have thought the lofts would have been similar to Cobra's Pro CB irons.

This is what I am hoping for. I just don't play enough right now for my Pro-C's and when I do get the chance I want to be on the course and not the range. I have always been a fan of Cobra forgings and hope these continue my

I hope your right and that the lofts are the same as the ap2's
Ok, had my club pro call his rep. The rep confirmed the strong lofts and it's designed to compete with models such as TM 2009 Burner irons.
I think it might be a good move on Cobra's part as forged construction will offer better lie and loft adjustability that is not readily available with 09 Burner irons.
Here's few poor pics as it was taken from my Blackberry. I've included the pictures of new ZL driver and cast S2 irons.
The strong lofts is a little disappointing as I only use 3 wedges PW included). But being forged, that's easily remedied. Love that profile position and the Nippon 1130 shafts. I'm excited. And that Cobra driver is great looking. Glad they lost the scalloped crown.
I like the look of the S2 forged but 43* pw is a bit much. How much could you weaken the lofts without hurting anything?
For every degree of loft you add (or weaken the lofts)... you will add one degree of bounce... it would probably be worth finding the bounce specs before you tweak the lofts... I assume its harder than imagined, but if we all just played based on "lofts" instead of "club numbers" we wouldnt be concerned with what a manufacturer calls a PW...

It probably would make a better sense to purchase 4 thru GW as weakening the lofts might increase the bounce of the irons. Also lessen the chance of spidering the hosels by bending bit too much one way.
I'm not playing much golf lately and have a feeling I'll be playing less next year so I might move away from the VR BLades.
These will go head to head with the new AP2s, Titlesit CBs, Mizuno MP58s, ...........
I HOPE all these new irons come out early when I'm still playing (Sept / Oct at the latest) so I can get fitted while my swing is still good and order them over the winter for next year.
But man I can see a NL Driver, S2 forged and some Nike Wedges in my bag next year.
I have to admit, I am a huge Cobra fan, but I do not like the looks of these irons. I hate the new "Badge Fad" that puts badges in the cavity of every club. I know you don't see them at address, but why have it there? I removed the useless foil badges on my Cobra Carbons and they look much better. I was a big fan of the Pro CB's and Pro MB's because they were clean and classic looking.
Having the lofts that strong is also ridiculous. Jacked up lofts are for your game improvement irons so that your typical 15 HC can hit their PW the same distance as a better player with weaker lofts who hits the ball more solidly.
Why not just put a huge rainbow badge with the words "POW!" on the back or the irons? You don't see them at address right?

I agree but I always give Cobra forged irons the benefit of the doubt.
S. O. B.!!!! Damn those things look good, and forged!! they are going to have to be UNREAL to knock out my Burners, but I will give them a try. the down the shaft view is awesome!!
They are supposedly going to be pretty high launching.
When you hit the 8 iron, it will fly like an 8 iron and go a 7 iron distance.
Konklifer: There will be no ZL Fairway woods.
There is a new Cobra S2 metals line coming out in the spring. The Pro line is leaving the line as they S2 line will have the ability to open/close the face. Cobra feels the S2 line will be able to be fit into the PGA guys as well. The S2 driver is sharp looking and has a black face.
The dimples on the crown are now gone on Cobra drivers!!
