I played jr. and college golf about 10 years ago and since moved into running tournaments for juniors. Can any of y'all give me some insight as to what the best items you have received at a tournament? Thanks in advance.

Played in a member / guest at a private club here in Tampa and got a Club Glove Last Bag as a tee gift. It has the tournament emblem embroidered on the bag. I thought that was a GREAT tee gift.

At most events you get the standard issue prizes like golf balls, a towel, etc. I've been to some events where they have a Titleist and FootJoy or Callaway tent set up and you get a certain amount to spend on those items. It's usually $100 to $200.

At our member / guest last fall, we had some Callaway prize packs where you could choose one of the 5 or 6 packs. Each pack was worth about $125. For example, the pack I chose had 2 gloves, a shirt and a dozen Tour i balls. We also got a pair of FootJoy DryJoys.

I play on a local tour and the top 5 get $50,$40,$35,$30,$20. and points, the top 10 in points get to go to a expensive resort for the Player of the year championship.

Yea, I run a junior tournament so the Texas UIL would be a little upset if we started giving cash as prizes...however it would be a nice suprise for them. Cash will always be king but I didn't know if anyone received anything out of the ordinary that was pretty cool.

I would say if your gonna give money, make it clubhouse credit.

A Scotty for winning long drive....(hate it when long drive wins a new driver, the guy hitting the longest drive doesn't need a friggin driver).

I always like getting a towel as a tee gift, but not one of those tri-fold towels with a clip, I mean a nice players towel. I know my friends love getting towels like that from big tournaments and showing them off. I played with a guy who is a junior in college and he is still using his towel from the AJGA Rolex.

AJGA was the best by far, Polo shirt, dozen ProV's, towel, occasional bag or headcover. Towels, shirts, headcovers, hats, all normal stuff.
Different stuff: logo leather billfolds, dress shirts, stainless money clips, belts, shoes, backpacks. I've gotten so much stuff there has to be something different you can find.

The tournament is sponsored by Adidas so we have given the backpacks, the climacool, the hats, and even the adidas running group helped out with a tech shirt this year. Every player gets the synthetic scorecard holder before the first round and for the past 12 years, stuffed themselves with any candy made by (M&M) Mars, Inc. The headcovers never went over that well for some reason, but we were trying to conjure up new ideas to give the players. Titleist stepped in and gave the players Pro V1s with a custom sleeve that only had the tourney logo on it.

Played in a tournament last fall at my brothers club and TM sponsors the event. We had our pick of either shoes, bag, wedge, putter, or hybrid. Plus, we got a shirt, dozen galls, glove, and hat. Not bad. Going again in October. On top of that, I won a CP (18") which was a bottle of scotch. Don't drink so they swapped it for a Tour Burner TP. And we won our flight.

Big towels are the way to go. Nothing wrong with shirts, hats, or balls either.

+1 for AJGA. At last tourney I played Winn Grips was there and you could get all your clubs regripped on site for free. No charge for grips or labor. I thought that was pretty cool.

I played in a comp once where the winner won a Titleist tour bag with matching headcovers and a scotty headcover, that was pretty neat! and last place got a £30 voucher for the pro shop!!! (just to encourage him to keep playing)

as a junior i am going to say that everyone loves stuff with their name, i find the ajga bag tag soooo cool, i think a lime green or something bright backtag (starburst colors) haha or a hat, something with their name and grad year is also pretty cool, something basic that is personalized

can't go wrong with a dozen prov1's from AJGA, I really don't get Winn going to AJGA tournaments to regrip clubs, I know I wouldn't want my clubs regripped between tourney rounds.

Depends on your budget, but some quality putter headcovers would be a great change from the usual haul of balls (that I never use) or towels (of which I have a closet full).

If you ordered enough to offset the set-up fee, a batch of AM&E putter covers with the tournament logo embroidered on them would be sick.

AJGA always has the hook up!

But I second the bag tags thing! I always keep all mine in a box along with all the other stuff from tournaments

Ian poulter invitational this year, goody bag was ridiculous.
Poulter had all his sponsors hook every player up!
Custom oakleys, any combo of colours, poulter design shirt and cap, pro v1's, trion:z bracelet.
Then in the mail 3 weeks later came tiger woods 2010 for xbox 360.
On top of that tournament was free at Woburn where a green fee is £180/$300. practise round optional at £30/$50 and they let my dad play with me on my practise round for the same price. Poulter was there from 7 a.m till 7 p.m answering questions, posing for photos, walking the course.
I played poorly but the memories from the day and the friends made over-ride that :-)

What did you shoot? How do you qualify for tournaments like those?

Winn wouldn't have just gone to the tournament, it was most likely sponsored by them. I played in a tournament sponsored by Aldila and they gave us a free shaft of our choice between the VS, DVS, and NV.

Keeping with watch theme - I got a watch that clips onto your bag. That was a pretty sweet pickup.

Maui Jim Sunglass giveaway was also a huge pickup. They had four or five styles to pick from and in different sizes.

At a charity event I was invited to last year, each participating player received a free pair of Nike Air Max Rejuvenate golf shoes and Nike SP UV Mesh Polo golf shirt.

Man I wish I could play in some of these. In most of the stuff I play in, you get a plastic bag with a sleeve of crappy balls, a few tees, plastic ballmarkers, and a beer coozie. Of course they're usually charity events so I can't expect much more and am glad to pay to play for a good cause, but it would still be nice.... I won a long drive at one this year and got a generic pepsi carry bag for my effort. We also won the second flight and got $150 in pro shop credit. Not too shabby, and the bag holds my backup clubs great even though I would never ever take it on the course. We won a scramble outright 2 years ago and the prize was a dozen pinnacles and a generic brand soft travel bag. That was a bit disappointing, although it's still my travel bag for the rare times I travel. I put a hockey stick in there and pray my clubs make it :)
