it definatly looks like he is using graphite shafts in his irons. does anyone know what he has got in there? he is bombing those irons around on pebble^^

They just made a comment about his graphite shafts on usopen.com live feed.

What did they say?  It just looked like his lob wedge that had a graphite shafts, the others were steel.  It was a very matte finish did not look metallic.

I think his driver is on steroids.

Pretty sure he just defeated the ole R9 420 is a short club debate.  He clearly is still gaming the OG R9 and clearly murders it.

i want to respectfully disagree about the original R9 being a shortknocker. Lately I've been hearing about the Superdeep being called the Superdud too, but it is really all about FITTING.

i realize most of you probably think you know what is a good shaft for you but you honestly don't know until you see a real trackman or anything non-golfstore contraption for fitting.

the R9 in its original form is low spin. so if you play a shaft that is higher spin than what you're used to, it'd probably work better. Because you play a whiteboard in a burner doesnt mean its going to work in a R9.

Hell, I play a Superdeep with an Ilima. I was a whiteboard and Kai'li user until I got fitted to that shaft. and I hit the Superdeep longer and straighter than a Supertri that I was best matched with. And my numbers aren't impressive. 106MPH swing speed. and the Superdeep was my best match. Go figure. I have a 14.5 degree launch angle and 2400-2600 RPM backspin with my ilima 60-x. carry is 260 at the least.

If you got properly fitted for an R9 you can hit it just as long if not longer than your self-fitted equipment.

He said in previous interviews it was 2* open because he usually misses left.

So after the whole PGA thing was playing out I went to work monday morning listening to the junkies (VA 106.7) and they said something about Dustin Johnson being involved in a murder investigation while he was in college.  He was hanging out with a rough crowd apparently and he bought and gave a friends brother I believe bullets that were eventually used to murder somebody during a botched robbery.  This blew my mind, anybody herd this before?

I haven't. But as far as culpability goes, in the absence of some sort of prior guilty knowledge it sounds as though he's roughly on a par with a car salesman who sells a vehicle to someone who then goes on to drive it recklessly and ends up killing someone.

Here's the story; when he was 16, Johnson was involved with other boys in a burglary where a gun was stolen. The next day, he bought ammunition using a fake ID at a WalMart and the gun was later used by a friend to kill someone.

Hmm. Certainly very naughty then, however you look at it. And it certainly trumps his boozing and cruising conviction of a year or two back.

Anyone know the reason he uses the KBS shafts in his wedge(s)?  Spin i assume, but what advantage/feel do they give over the DGs that are in the rest of his irons?  Whatever it is why not switch all irons?
